Perales Picks up Second-Straight Skyline Rookie of the Week Honors

NEW YORK  The Skyline Conference announced its award winners today, Tuesday, March 28, and for the second consecutive week, New Jersey City University freshman middle blocker Amaru Perales (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) was named Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Perales had another strong week, playing in all 14 sets as NJCU went 3-1. He finished with 38 kills (2.71/set) with just 11 errors for a .346 hitting percentage, adding three digs and eight total blocks (0.57.set). He led all players with 11 kills in the 3-0 win at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y., on Thursday night, March 23. Perales also had a match-best 12 kills in the 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday morning, March 25, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) to start off the Skyline tri-match that day. Finally, he tied the match-high with three total blocks later that afternoon in another 3-0 win over CMSV.

As mentioned, this is Perales' second straight Skyline Rookie of the Week nod and he now has two for his career.
