The Skyline Conference announced its award winners today, Tuesday, March 28, and for the second consecutive week, New Jersey City University freshman middle blocker
Amaru Perales (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) was named Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
Perales had another strong week, playing in all 14 sets as NJCU went 3-1. He finished with 38 kills (2.71/set) with just 11 errors for a .346 hitting percentage, adding three digs and eight total blocks (0.57.set). He led all players with 11 kills in the 3-0 win at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y., on Thursday night, March 23. Perales also had a match-best 12 kills in the 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday morning, March 25, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) to start off the Skyline tri-match that day. Finally, he tied the match-high with three total blocks later that afternoon in another 3-0 win over CMSV.
As mentioned, this is Perales' second straight Skyline Rookie of the Week nod and he now has two for his career.
