STAFFORD, Va. — The New Jersey City University men's and women's golf teams are competing at the Augustine Intercollegiate, hosted by Arcadia University, this weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1. The Gothic Knights took part in the first 18 holes of action on Friday at Augustine Golf Club and saw some strong results.
On the women's side, the teams are competing on the par-71, 5,567-yard course and for NJCU, freshman
Meadow Ciccarella (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) shot a first round score of 99, which currently places her in a tie for 19th in the individual standings. Behind her and in sole possession of 25th-place is sophomore
Destiny Duhaney (Freeport, Bahamas/Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy), who shot a 113 on Friday.
For the men, Jersey City sits in 10th place through 18 holes as the squad is playing on the par-71, 6,602-yard course, with a team score of 360. Freshman
Tim Bock (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) put up a strong round one with a 79 to tie him for 14th out of 55 golfers. Junior
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) shot an 85, which ties him for 34th. Sophomore
Tamuda Kaseke (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. John's College) shot an even 90 and is tied for 45th, while senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) and freshman
Walter Pierce (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) each shot a 106.
