Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y. — The New Jersey City University men's and women's tennis teams faced of with New York University on Sunday, March 5, at the Stadium Tennis Center. The women's squad fell to the Violets, 8-1, while the men were defeated, 9-0.
The Jersey City women (2-1) had some strong performances during doubles play. Senior 
Eliza Clamor (Auckland, New Zealand/Rangitoto College) and sophomore 
Vanshita Malhotra (Barwala, India/DAV Model School) teamed up a first doubles, but fell 8-2. The Gothic Knights got their big victory at second doubles as senior 
Giada Zorzan (Milan, Italy/Liceo dello Sport Marco Pantani) and freshman 
Sophia Jurina (Munich, Germany/Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium) teamed up for the 8-7(2) win.
In singles play, Zorzan and Jurina had a pair of individually competitive matches, as well. Zorzan pushed the first set at first singles to a 7-6(5) tiebreak before falling in set two, 6-2. Jurina took her first set at fifth singles, 6-3, before dropping the second, 6-3. She fought hard but dropped the third set tiebreak, 10-7. Sophomore 
Sara Zorzan (Milan, Italy/Liceo Falcone Borsellino) was strong in her 6-3, 6-3 loss at fourth singles, as well.
On the men's side, first doubles was a tight one as junior 
Nico Teynie (Rouen, France/Lycée Val de Seine) and freshman 
Pedro Caro-Accino Roca (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain/British School of Gran Canaria) teamed up for a close 8-7(2) loss. Juniors 
Alejandro Ley (Las Palmas, Spain/I.E.S. Politécnico) and 
Jordi Julia (Barcelona, Spain/IES Sant Quirze del Valles) dropped their match at second doubles, 8-4.
Teynie nearly took first singles, as well. He fell behind one set after dropping the first, 6-4, before winning the second, 6-4, to even it up at one set apiece. Teynie fell in a 10-6 third-set tiebreak. Ley was strong at second singles in a 6-4, 6-4 loss, as well.
