INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA officially announced its qualifiers for the 2023 Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, March 5, and for the first time since 2010 — and since the 2018-19 return of the program — New Jersey City University track & field will be represented on a national stage.
Senior sprinter
Dave Etienne (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) is tied for 14th in all of Division III in the 400-meter dash with a personal-record time of 48.17, which he ran to place seventh overall out of 121 finishers at the 2023 Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. His time ranks fourth all-time in the NJCU indoor men's record book, as well. He will be one of 20 runners to compete in the 400m preliminary races. Additionally, his personal-record time of 21.71 in the 200-meter dash, which placed him fifth out of 121 at the Terrier Classic — and is tied for first all-time at NJCU — was just 0.04 seconds shy of qualifying for NCAAs.
