March 08, 2023

NEW ORLEANS — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its All-Region honorees for the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season this week and senior Dave Etienne (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) of the New Jersey City University men's track & field program officially earned All-Metro Region honors in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.

The recognition is given to the top five individuals in each event in their respective regions. Etienne's personal record time of 21.71 — and NJCU indoor program-record tying time — in the 200m from the 2023 Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic ranks third in the Metro region behind only Cheickna Traore of Ramapo College and Jah'mere Beasley of Rowan University. Additionally, his personal record time of 48.17 in the 400m, also at the Terrier Classic, ranks fourth in the region behind Traore, Samuel Knowles of Widener University and Amara Conte of Rowan.

Etienne is now just a couple days away from being the first Gothic Knight to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships since 2010 as he is currently en route to Birmingham, Ala., where he will compete on Friday, March 10, around roughly 4:05 p.m. (ET) in the men's 400m preliminaries, where he is seeded 15th out of the 20 qualifiers. The event will be broken down into five heats and the top eight times overall will advance to the finals on Saturday, March 11.
