STAFFORD, Va. — The New Jersey City University men's and women's golf teams competed in day two of the Augustine Intercollegiate on Saturday, April 1. The 36-hole tournament is being hosted at Augustine Golf Club by Arcadia University. The second round for NJCU was highlighted on the men's side by a career-low round for junior
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees), who shot a 75. Additionally, freshman
Meadow Ciccarella (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) shot a women's program record of 85 to obliterate the previous mark of 93, which she set last week.
The men's tournament, which was hosted on the par-71, 6,602-yard course, was won by Catholic University, who shot a two-round team score of 612 (314-298). Individually, Neil Zhu of second-place Swarthmore College took first with a two-round score of 146 (76-70). The Gothic Knights finished 10th with a two-round 699 (360-339), dropping 21 strokes off their round one score today. In addition to Piontkowski, who finished in a tie for 23rd, Jersey City's overall low scorer and finishing in a tie for 20th was freshman
Tim Bock (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) — he followed up his round-one 79 with a score of 80 today to finish at 159. Sophomore
Tamuda Kaseke (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. John's College) dropped four strokes from round one to today and finished in 49th with a 36-hole score of 176 (90-86). Freshman
Walter Pierce (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) finished in 54th at 204 (106-98) after dropping eight strokes round-over-round. Senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) was 55th with a 205 (106-99).
The women's tournament, which was on the par-71, 5,567-yard course, was won by York College (Pa.) with a two-round 642 (324-318). Additionally, Natalie Robson of the Spartans took home the individual title with a 149 (71-78). For NJCU, Ciccarella tied for 15th overall and she dropped 14 strokes round-over-round with her 85 today to finish with a 184. Sophomore
Destiny Duhaney (Freeport, Bahamas/Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy) placed 25th.

The women return to the course on Tuesday, April 4, for a quad-match down in Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J. It will be hosted by Stockton University at LBI National. Then, both the men and women head out to Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa., on Thursday, April 6, for the 18-hole Elizabethtown College Invitational.
