WASHINGTON, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's golf team completed its final tune-up before next weekend's 2023 Atlantic East Conference Championship. NJCU competed at the rain-shortened 18-hole Garden State Collegiate Classic on Sunday, April 16, hosted by Drew University on the par-72, 6,687-yard course at Hawk Pointe Golf Club.
The hosting-Rangers won the tournament with a team score of 285, while their own Elliot Parker placed first with a four-under round of 68. NJCU came in ninth place with a team score of 339 and were led by sophomore
Tamuda Kaseke (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. John's College), who placed in a tie of 37th with a round of 78. Two strokes back of him was junior
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees), who shot an 80 to tie for 46th.
Also competing for the Gothic Knights were freshmen
Tim Bock (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) and
Walter Pierce (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep), who came in at 85 and 86 to tie for 54th and place 58th. Rounding in out was senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee), who came in 59th with a round of 99.

Jersey City returns to action for the historic final season finale on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, for the Atlantic East Championship, which will be hosted by Marywood University at Valley Country Club in Sugarloaf, Pa.
