NEW CASTLE, Del. — The New Jersey City University women's bowling team resumed competition for the first time in the New Year today, Friday, Jan. 19, as part of the three-day Northeast Classic, which is being hosted at Bowlerama in a five-game Bakter Total Pinfall format.
NJCU (12-11) earned a victory in it's first match of the day, taking down Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) rival, Mount Aloysius College, 832-792. From that point forward, the Gothic Knights faced off against a gauntlet, taking on some of the nation's top-ranked teams, according to the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 Poll.
The Green and Gold squared off with the #3-ranked team in the nation first in Youngstown State University, followed by Howard University. Then they took on the #1 team in the nation, Jacksonville State University and closed out the day against #20 Oklahoma Christian University.

Sofia Ocasio (Union City, N.J./Jose Marti STEM Academy) alternating in the first spot, followed by seniors
Rebecca Kain (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg),
Samantha Szymanski (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial),
Meagan Raimondo (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) and
Rebecca Hoff (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) — in that order.
