STRATFORD, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's bowling team competed at the three-day NJ Open from Friday-Sunday, Jan. 26-28, which was co-hosted by #25 Fairleigh Dickinson University and Monmouth University at 30 Strikes.
Weekend Summary
The Gothic Knights picked up a trio of victories over the weekend. On Friday in five-game baker total pinfall format, NJCU defeated Division II Holy Family University, 753-615. On Saturday, during traditional play, the Green and Gold had a bunch of very close matches, but their highlight of the weekend was an 894-843 victory over Division I Long Island University. Finally, on the final day, which was best 4-of-7 baker format, the Gothic Knights defeated Division II Adelphi University in six games (4-2).
Individually, NJCU's squad was made up of five bowlers this weekend: freshman
Sofia Ocasio (Union City, N.J./Jose Marti STEM Academy), junior
Anna Trachsler (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) and seniors
Rebecca Kain (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg),
Meagan Raimondo (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) and
Rebecca Hoff (Colonia, N.J./Colonia). The team averaged 783.6 per match on Friday. On Saturday, Raimondo had the team's best game, shooting 226 during the squad's upset of LIU. She also shot a 222 in a tough loss to Adelphi. Hoff shot a 222 in a tight loss to Division II #RV Felician University and added a 209 in the win over the Sharks. Hoff also shot a 193 against Division I Wagner University and a 190 against Monmouth. Kean's best score was 172, which came against LIU and the same for Trachsler, who had a 156 in that match, as well. Ocasio had a pair of 144s against Adelphi and Felician.
For her standout performance on the overall weekend, Hoff was selected to the NJ Open All-Tournament team.

The Gothic Knights return to action this weekend for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Round Robin #2, which will be hosted by NJCU from Friday-Sunday, Feb. 2-4, at Bowlero in North Brunswick, N.J. The format for the weekend will be traditional. The Green and Gold went 6-4 in the AMCC Round Robin #1 to take fourth place out of 11 teams. Following this weekend's action, the top six teams in the regular-season standings qualify for the AMCC Championship in late-March.
