Women's Wrestling Splits at Elmira Dual

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The New Jersey City University women's wrestling team finished 1-1 on the night with a 30-15 win over Utica and a 35-8 loss to Elmira.

In the match against Utica, the Gothic Knights started with 10 points via forfeit at 110 and 117. Nuria Kojic (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) pinned her opponent at 124 in 2:00 minutes. Utica tied the match at 15 before Fabiana Josa (Churchville, Pa./International Christian School) put NJCU back in the win column with a fall in 1:31. Two more forfeits gave the Gothic Knights their first win of the night.

Against Elmira, things did not go as planned as took an early 5-0 lead thanks to a forfeit. #5 ranked Izabella Frezzo (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton Regional) won via tech fall in 1:00, cutting the lead down to 5-4. The Gothic Knights kept it close after Bella Serrano (Belmar, N.J./Manasquan) won by tech fall in 3:32. Elmira swept the remainder of the match to secure the win.
