Aponte Leads NJCU Women’s Cross-Country Team at NCAA Metro Regionals

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) women's cross-country team competed at the NCAA Metro Regionals, hosted by Stockton University, on Saturday, Nov. 16. Sophomore Jezena Aponte (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) paced the Gothic Knights with a stellar 19th-place finish out of 182 runners, earning All-Region status.

Aponte, who had previously set the NJCU 6k program record at the NJAC Championships on Nov. 2, broke her own record again, finishing with a time of 23:14.2. She placed 10th overall among all New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) runners. Junior Yoselyn Romero (East Orange, N.J./Kearny) also competed, setting a personal best with a time of 33:05.0, which earned her 166th place.
