Sandy Guerrero Competes at Bill Farrell Memorial International

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fifth-year wrestler Sandy Guerrero (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) represented both the New Jersey City University (NJCU) women's wrestling program and Puerto Rico at the Bill Farrell Memorial International, held by the New York Athletic Club on Friday, Nov. 8.

Competing in the 76kg weight class, Guerrero faced tough competition throughout the tournament. In the quarterfinals, she met Dymond Guilford (USA), who eventually went on to the finals of the bracket. Guerrero was defeated 11-0 in 4 minutes and 53 seconds.

Despite the setback, Guerrero continued in the competition, wrestling in the consolation bracket. She faced Skyler Ann Gassel (USA) in the round of four, securing a dominant 10-0 victory in 2 minutes and 20 seconds. In the consolation semifinals, Guerrero matched up against Alexandria Glaude (USA), who had previously lost in the championship semifinals. Guerrero fell 8-1 to Glaude, ending the day with a 1-2 record.

UP NEXT:
Guerrero and the Gothic Knights will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Adrian Invitational, hosted by Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. The tournament is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
