JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men's basketball team continued its strong start in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), earning its third consecutive NJAC win with an 80-75 victory over Rowan on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the John J. Rowan's Khalif Meares had a standout performance, scoring a game-high 35 points along with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Brycen Williams contributed 11 points and three assists for the Profs.
The game was tightly contested throughout. The two teams were tied at 30 with 5:33 remaining in the first half, but NJCU finished the period with a 12-3 run, including six points from Wilson, to take a 44-37 lead at halftime. Rowan opened the second half with a 9-2 run to tie the game at 46, but the Gothic Knights responded with a 6-0 run, capped by a dunk from Ezike, to extend their lead to nine points (69-60).
