February 03, 2024

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's bowling team competed in the second day of the 2023-24 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Round Robin #2 today, Saturday, Feb. 3, at Bowlero. Along with the continuation of the three day tournament, four Gothic Knights seniors were honored before the action resumed this morning, as well as the seniors from the other 10 schools competing in North Bruinswick this weekend.

With one day complete, the Gothic Knights sat in third after a bye and an opening weekend victory against Penn State Altoona. The Green and Gold picked up right where they left this morning, defeating Mount Aloysius 788-743 to begin the day. NJCU dropped their next four matches, including a tied score against the University of Pitttsburgh Bradford, ultimately falling in a Baker format to decide a winner.

As mentioned, the Gothic Knights (20-30, 8-8 AMCC) began proceedings against Mount Aloysius. Senior Rebecca Hoff (Colonia, N.J., Colonia)threw her best score of the weekend so far, totaling 237 score in her first 10 frames of the day.

With a tied score after 10 frames against Bradford, the Gothic Knights were faced with a Baker format, to decide their third game of the tournament. Unfortunately, they would fall in five additional frames, one frame designated per bowler, 85-77. Senior Rebecca Kain (Keansburg, N.J., Keansburg) totaled the most pins for the Green and Gold against the Panthers, posting a 179 score.

Hoff and senior Meagan Raimondo (Woodbridge, N.J., Woodbridge) lead the way for NJCU in total pins after six games played and one more day of bowling. Hoff sits 10th of 68 bowlers in total pins (1,108), and Raimondo is seven pins away from 1,000.
