March 23, 2024

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The New Jersey City University women's bowling team competed in the third round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Saturday, March 23. NJCU was the #5 seed in the AMCC Championship and faced off with #3 seed Alvernia University, but fell to the Golden Wolves in the double elimination megamatch to end their season.

The Gothic Knights advanced to the second day of competition today after going 1-1 yesterday, taking down #4 seed Penn State Behrend in the first round, while also taking on #1 seed Saint Vincent College. NJCU squared off with Alvernia today in a win-or-go-home match and did well in the traditional round, registering an 840, including games of 191 from senior Rebecca Hoff (Colonia, N.J./Colonia), 189 from senior Megan Raimondo and 184 from senior Samantha Szymanski (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial). However, the Golden Wolves scored 953 as a team to go up, 1-0. The 5-Game Baker match was even closer, with Alvernia coming out on top, 846-804.

When all was said and done, the #2 seed William Smith College was crowed team champions. Individually for NJCU, Hoff was selected to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for the second consecutive season.
