JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's volleyball team are just one win away from a new program record 15-straight victories after sweeping Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday night, March 27th, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC). NJCU handled business against the Gryphons, holding them to just 38 total points.
NJCU (17-8, 14-0 Skyline) started the match with five straight points, three of which were forced attack errors on Sarah Lawrence (5-17, 4-11 Skyline). SLC tried to chip into the lead, but only got as close as three points. The Gothic Knights went on a 14-1 run to finish the first set, including a kill and ace from sophomore middle blocker
Amaru Perales (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) to close it out.

Marcus Pardasie (Paramus, N.J./Cresskill) started off set two with a kill, and graduate opposite
James Bajor (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) and fifth year middle blocker
Brandon DaSilva (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) denied a Gryphon attack to keep the momentum on the Gothic Knights side. Both teams traded points until NJCU went on a 13-3 run, with three of those points coming from Perales kills, and three from Bajor aces. Senior outside
Mahmoud Serour (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) closed out the second set off a feed from sophomore setter
Alex Casais (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), winning 25-13.
In set three, the Gryphons scored first, but the Green and Gold answered right back with four straight, including an ace from freshman setter
Faraz Bhatti (Union, N.J./Union), who replaced Casais. DaSilva led NJCU with four kills in the third set, as the team scored most of their points via Gryphons service and attack errors. The Gothic Knights led by as many as ten points in the final set before ultimately winning 25-18, completing the sweep.
Highlights:
- Casais had a match-high 23 assists, the 17th time he's surpassed 20 in a match this season.
- Perales reached double-digit kills for the second time this season.
