Softball Falls to #18 Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. - The New Jersey City University softball team went on the road today, April 23, for a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) matchup against the #18 Ramapo College Roadrunners. The Roadrunners, who currently sit atop of the NJAC standings, defeated the Gothic Knights in both games, taking the first, 2-0, and winning the second, 10-2.

Senior Emily Tunney (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest), who played shortstop in game one and started game two in centerfield, notched the first hit of the afternoon with a leadoff single, the 96th hit of her career. She would notch one more hit in the second game and finish 2-for-5 with a run on the day, and is just three shy of the century mark. Junior first baseman Jaelynn Barrios (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) recorded a hit in each game, ending 2-for-6 with an RBI to extend her hitting streak to four straight games.

Senior righty Sidnie Dabbadie (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) got the start in the circle for the first game, and allowed no earned runs while striking out five Roadrunners in 6.0 innings in the loss. Her 84 strikeouts this year is sixth best among NJAC pitchers. In game two, senior righty Sam Miller (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) got the start, but only went 1.0 innings, and was relieved by freshman Maggie Martin (Spring Lake Heights, N.J./Manasquan), who gave up just four hits and one earned run in the 3.0 innings.

Up Next:
The Gothic Knights will look to bounce back before their final NJAC conference bout, as they will return to the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex on Thursday, April 25, for a non conference matchup against the Saint Elizabeth University Eagles. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
