JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University softball team took on Kean University in a pair of home New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex on Sunday, April 7. Kean won game, 11-0, and took game two, 9-0.
Senior co-captain
Mariah Villanueva (Jersey City, N.J./McNair Academic), who caught game one and was the designated player in game two, finished the doubleheader going 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk for NJCU (6-11, 1-5 NJAC).
Senior co-captain righthander
Sidnie Dabbadie (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) got the start in game one and went 5.2 innings against the Cougars (15-10, 3-3 NJAC). She sent down six batters on strikes and allowed six earned runs.
Her classmate and co-captain
Sam Miller (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) was in the circle for game two and she tossed 4.0 innings, allowing three earned runs. Rookie pitcher
Maggie Martin (Spring Lake Heights, N.J./Manasquan) entered both games for some relief work, tossing a total of 1.1 innings with one earned on two hits.
