PURCHASE, N.Y. - The New Jersey City University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Manhattanville on Tuesday, Sept. 3. After a scoreless first half, Manhattanville broke the deadlock with a goal in the 48th minute. NJCU responded ten minutes later, leveling the score.

The Gothic Knights (1-0-2) out-shot the Valiants (0-1-1) 19-9, with a 7-4 advantage in shots on target. In the 54th minute, junior midfielder Nyrohah Alvarenga (North Bergen, N.J./High Tech) delivered a corner kick that resulted in two blocked shots by Manhattanville. Fifth-year forward Kim Brites (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) then assisted Alvarenga, who scored in the 58th minute to tie up the game.
