Men's Wrestling Storms Through Electric City Duals to Capture Title in Scranton

SCRANTON, PA. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men's wrestling team dominated at the Electric City Duals, hosted by Scranton, on Sunday, Nov. 16. The Gothic Knights went a perfect 5–0 on the day, returning to Jersey City as the 2025 Electric City Duals Champions.

NJCU vs. Elmira: 30-11
Sophomore Dominic Terracciano (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) opened the dual with a dominant 17–1 technical fall in 2:40 at 125 pounds, and senior Lucas Torre (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) followed by adding six points with a forfeit win at 133. After a no-contest at 141, senior Zach Vera extended NJCU's lead to 16–0 with a 19–3 technical fall in 3:27 at 149. Junior Jayson Candelario (Madison, N.J./Madison) kept the momentum rolling with a 16–0 technical fall in 2:30 at 157, and sophomore Diego Viera (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) pushed the advantage to 27–0 by pinning his opponent in just 1:05 at 165. Elmira broke through at 174 with a technical fall and added a pin at 184, cutting the deficit to 27–11. Following another no-contest at 197, heavyweight junior Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) sealed the match with a 6–3 decision, securing a 30–11 victory for the Gothic Knights.

NJCU vs. Rowan College: 43-11
NJCU stormed out to a commanding start as Dominic Terracciano (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) recorded a 25-second pin at 125 pounds, followed by Lucas Torre's (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) 1:12 fall at 133. Dean Costantino (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) kept the momentum rolling with an 18-2 technical fall in just 1:34 at 141. Zach Vera added a 13-6 decision at 149 before Rowan forfeited the 149 and 157 bouts to widen the Gothic Knights' lead to 32–0. At 174, Zahier Chiles (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prepratory) picked up his first win of the day with a 20-4 technical fall in five minutes. Rowan responded with a technical fall at 184 and a forfeit at 197, but heavyweight Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) closed the dual emphatically with a 48-second pin, securing a 43–11 victory for the Green and Gold.

NJCU vs. Kean: 45-11
NJCU exploded to a 41–0 start, beginning with Dominic Terracciano's (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) 32-second pin at 125 pounds. Lucas Torre (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) followed with a dominant 19–1 technical fall in 2:45 at 133, where Kean was also docked one team point. Dean Costantino (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) kept the momentum rolling with a 2:21 fall at 141, and senior Andy Beras (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) made an impressive debut at 149 by securing a pin in 2:15. The bonus-point streak continued as Zach Vera added a 2:21 pin at 157, and Zahier Chiles (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prepratory) collected a forfeit at 165. Diego Viera (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) extended the lead further with a 7:32 fall at 174. Kean tallied 11 team points with forfeits at 184 and 197—after the earlier penalty was applied—bringing the score to 41–11. Heavyweight Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) closed out the dual with an 11–3 major decision, completing another strong performance for the Gothic Knights.

NJCU vs. UPitt-Bradford: 46-6
NJCU surged to a 43–0 advantage behind a dominant string of early performances. Dominic Terracciano (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) opened with a 4:18 pin at 125 pounds, followed by Lucas Torre's (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) 17–1 technical fall in an identical 4:18 at 133. Dean Costantino (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) needed just 40 seconds to secure a fall at 141, and Zach Vera battled to a 2–1 overtime decision at 149. Jayson Candelario (Madison, N.J./Madison) added a 2:37 pin at 157 before Zahier Chiles (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prepratory) rolled to a 22–5 technical fall in 4:30 at 165. Diego Viera (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) then delivered the fastest fall of the day with a 20-second pin at 174, and William Chrysler (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) added a forfeit win at 184. UPitt–Bradford collected six points via a forfeit at 197, but Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) closed the dual with a 4–1 decision at heavyweight, securing NJCU's 46–6 victory.

NJCU vs. Scranton: 25-21
In the championship bout, NJCU surged to a 22–0 lead behind a dominant opening stretch. Dominic Terracciano (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) set the tone with a 16–0 technical fall in 3:14 at 125 pounds, followed by Lucas Torre's (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) 21–4 technical fall in 6:30 at 133. Dean Costantino (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) continued the run with an 18–0 technical fall in 4:20 at 141, and at 149, Zach Vera added a 10–2 major decision to extend the advantage to 19–0. Jayson Candelario (Madison, N.J./Madison) kept the momentum rolling with a hard-fought 13–10 decision at 157. Scranton responded with a 21-point burst—recording pins at 165 and 184, a 17–10 decision at 174, and a forfeit at 197—to cut the margin to 22–21. But heavyweight Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) shut the door, securing the title for the Gothic Knights with a decisive 10–4 victory, sealing a 25–21 win.
