Match 1: NJCU 3, Mount Saint Mary 2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 15-6)

NJCU (15-8) was powered by Kai Fitzpatrick (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough High School), who hammered a match-high 36 kills, 28 digs, one service ace, and one solo block for 38 points while hitting .329. Diane Pugay (Jersey City, N.J./Infinity Institute) followed with 19 kills, 24 digs, three service aces, and one block assist for 22.5 points. Rae Marrero (Medford, NY/Patchogue Medford) dished out 61 assists, added 12 digs and two aces, while Genesis Hibbard (Groesbeck, Texas/Morristown (N.J.)) anchored the back row with 16 digs. Brianna Melanson (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) chipped in four kills off the bench. As a team, NJCU recorded 69 kills and seven service aces while hitting .217 on the night.

Mount St. Mary (11-15) hit .157 overall and was led by Julianna Simone with 15 kills, 11 digs, and three block assists. Brooke Lavelle added nine kills and five total blocks, Jonaiya Williams tallied eight kills, and Sofia Fredericks directed the Blue Knights with 14 assists, 15 digs, and two aces. Erin Lema paced the defense with seven digs.

In the opening set, Mount St. Mary built a 12-7 edge on a 5-1 run capped by a Lavelle kill. NJCU battled back to 22-23 on a Fitzpatrick termination, but the Blue Knights closed on a 3-1 spurt, including a Simone kill, to take it 25-23.

The second set belonged to the Gothic Knights as Pugay ignited a 4-0 surge with three straight aces for a 4-1 lead. NJCU extended to 16-13 after a Marrero ace and pulled away on back-to-back Fitzpatrick kills to even the match at one via the 25-22 win.

NJCU carried momentum into the third, erasing a 5-0 MSMC start with a 7-1 burst to take a 20-19 lead behind an ace by Marrero. The Green and Gold closed on a 4-2 run and took the set 25-22 behind a kill by Kiley Jurcisin (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne).

Mount St. Mary forced a fifth, using a 10-2 run midway through the set to establish the tone. The Gothic Knights knotted it up at 19, however, Mount Saint Mary regrouped and closed out the set on a 4-1 run.

In the fifth, NJCU dominated from the jump, rattling off seven straight, including four Melanson kills, for an 8-2 cushion. Fitzpatrick and Pugay combined for five kills down the stretch to wrap up the match with a 15-6 win.

Match 2: John Jay 3, NJCU 0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-10)

NJCU (15-9, 2-6 NJAC) hit .063 as a team with 26 kills and four service aces. Kai Fitzpatrick (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough High School) led the Gothic Knights with 11 kills, seven digs, and two block assists, while Diane Pugay (Jersey City, N.J./Infinity Institute) followed with seven kills, two block assists, and seven digs. Setter Rae Marrero (Medford, NY/Patchogue Medford) distributed 20 assists and added eight digs. Brianna Melanson (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) tallied four kills, three block assists, and three digs.

John Jay (20-6, 7-0 CUNYAC) hit an impressive .275 as a team and was paced by Jadyn Orava's 20 kills on .326 hitting. Madison Mullan added six kills and a match-high four service aces, while setter Adrienne Xiao recorded 28 assists and three kills.

The Gothic Knights battled through a slow start in the opening set, trailing 6-0 before tallying two straight kills to bring NJCU within four, 12-8. A 5-1 run by the Bloodhounds extended their lead before NJCU responded with a run of its own, however, they were not able to close the gap as John Jay took the first set, 25-18.

The second set proved to be the most competitive of the match as NJCU and John Jay traded momentum in a frame that featured two ties. Fitzpatrick and Marrero connected for a pair of crucial kills for the Gothic Knights that cut the deficit to one late in the set. However, Orava's late surge helped the Bloodhounds close out the set, 25-22.

In the third, John Jay took control early and never looked back, as they closed out the set with an 18-3 run.
