Gentile Earns First NJAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honor

PITMAN, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) named New Jersey City University sophomore guard Meghan Gentile (Roseland, N.J./Immaculate Conception) its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 2025–26 season (Dec. 8–14), the conference announced Monday, Dec. 15. The honor marks the first NJAC weekly award of Gentile's collegiate career.

Gentile played a pivotal role in NJCU's 74–50 road victory at Kean University on Saturday, Dec. 13, as the Gothic Knights improved to 3–2 in conference play and 4–5 overall. Logging 39 minutes, Gentile poured in 26 points while adding seven rebounds, seven steals, and three assists.

Earlier in the week, Gentile led NJCU with 17 points in 26 minutes against Stockton, contributing five rebounds, one steal, and one assist.

Through nine games, Gentile leads the NJAC in scoring at 20.1 points per game. She ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage (.426) and three-point field goals per game (3.0), while standing fourth in three-point percentage (34.4%) and minutes played (33.1 per game). She also ranks 16th in rebounding (5.6 per game), 19th in steals (1.6 per game), and 25th in assists (1.6 per game).

The Gothic Knights return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30, traveling to Staten Island, N.Y., to face Wagner University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
