NJCU Track & Field Shines at Wesleyan Winter Invite

MIDDLETOWN, CT | The Gothic Knights opened their indoor campaign on Saturday at the Wesleyan Winter Invite.

Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) picked up a gold medal in the women's 600m with a time of 1:44.92. Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) took part in the throwing events for the Gothic Knights, recording a 6th place finish in the weight throw (8.28m) and an 8th place finish in the shot put (7.21m).

On the men's side, Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens), Goncalo Caravalho, and Peter Chrysler (Trenton, N.J./Highland Regional) all earned first in their respective events. Ramirez finished the day in first with a time of 1:24.07 in the 600m, while Caravalho took first in the 1000m with a time of 2:52.59. Hot on his heels was fellow Gothic Knight Jeremiah Saunders (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfied) who took second in 2:52.62. Dequan Brown took fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 55.25.

Chrysler added yet another top finish for the Gothic Knights in the mile run, crossing the finish line in 5:49.44. David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) recorded a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.29m while also taking third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.70m. Sirell Clark (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter) recorded a top-5 finish in the weight throw with a toss of 12.72m. Also in the field events, Johnair Gonzalez (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) finished 4th in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m.
