Women's Basketball Suffers First NJAC Defeat of the Season to Rowan

GLASSBORO, NJ | The New Jersey City University women's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road matchup to Rowan, 101–70, on Saturday afternoon inside Esby Gym.

NJCU (3-4, 2-1 NJAC) was paced by Na'Tori Postell, who delivered 18 points on 4-of-10 shooting from three across 36 minutes. Meghan Gentile (Roseland, N.J./Immaculate Conception) followed with 17 points, including a pair of triples, while Kaylah Neal (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Autumn John (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) added 7 points and 7 boards, going 3-for-3 from the field.

Rowan (5-2, 2-1 NJAC) showcased a deep scoring attack with five players hitting double figures. Abigail Jazmin paced the Profs with 16 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor. Charlotte Carlies grabbed 11 boards in 21 minutes of action.

Rowan came out firing, connecting on four threes in the opening frame while forcing NJCU into several turnovers. The three-point outburst pushed Rowan's lead out to 18-2 early before the Gothic Knights settled in. NJCU trailed by as much as 15, however, Postell and John reduced it to 11 before the end of the first quarter.

NJCU responded with a stronger offensive rhythm, posting 21 points behind 60% shooting from the floor in the second stanza. Despite the push, Rowan matched NJCU's offensive output which only allowed NJCU to cut the lead down to 9 behind a late layup by Neal before the end of the half.

The Gothic Knights' offense wasn't able to keep up with the firepower of Rowan in the third quarter. Out of the break, NJCU's first basket didn't come until the six minute mark which came off of the hand of Gentile. Rowan eventually pushed its lead out to 20 before the quarter came to a close.

With a 20 point lead, Rowan cruised to the end of the game behind its highest output of the game, scoring 29 points to secure the win.
