Destiny Battle Named NJAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, First in Women’s Basketball History

PITMAN, N.J. – Destiny Battle (East Orange, N.J./East Orange STEM Academy) has made history as the first player in New Jersey City University (NJCU) women's basketball history to be named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the NJAC All-Conference Second Team.

The East Orange, N.J. native's outstanding season earned her the conference's top defensive honor, as she led the NJAC with 3.4 steals per game. Battle also ranked in the top 15 nationally in Division III with a total of 86 steals. In addition to her defensive prowess, she averaged 12.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, showcasing her all-around game. Her dominant performance on the court earned her NJAC Player of the Week honors once this season as well.
