Men's Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Three With 3-1 Win Over Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, NY - The New Jersey City University men's volleyball team extended its win streak to three matches with a 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 30-32, 29-27) victory over Skyline Conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College on Friday night. The win improves NJCU's all-time record against the Gryphons to 19-0, though Sarah Lawrence managed to claim its first-ever set against the Gothic Knights.

NJCU (8-6, 3-0) remained unbeaten in the Skyline behind .322 hitting as a team. Marcus Pardasie (Paramus, N.J./Cresskill) hit a blistering .720 in the match, tallying 19 kills, tying his career high, while adding seven digs and two block assists. Faraz Bhatti (Union, N.J./Union) dished out a season-high 25 assists alongside Erick Bacuilima's (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) 21. Damon LaSalle (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) inched closer to the NJCU record with two block assists and led the team with three service aces. Sarah Lawrence (6-5, 1-2) was led by Nate Davis' match-high 21 kills. Aidan Roney paced the team with four block assists while Alex Xie collected 35 assists and a team-high 11 digs.

NJCU took early control of the first set, using kills from Nasir Page, Pardasie, and Justin Walker (Paterson, N.J./Paterson Charter) to establish an 8-3 lead. The Gothic Knights extended their advantage with a dominant 10-1 run, highlighted by an offensive surge from Pardasie, before Nate Aguilar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) sealed the set with a kill.

The second set followed a similar script, with Walker igniting a 7-0 NJCU run to open up a 13-6 lead. Sarah Lawrence briefly cut the deficit to five before NJCU pulled away, fueled by two service aces from Johan Vaidyan (Piscataway, N.J./Saint Joseph). Pardasie and Page delivered crucial points down the stretch to close out the set, giving the Gothic Knights a 2-0 lead.

Sarah Lawrence responded in the third set, pushing NJCU to the limit in a back-and-forth battle. The Gothic Knights appeared poised to complete the sweep, leading 28-27 after consecutive points. However, the Gryphons fought back, scoring three straight points to take the set 32-30 and force a fourth frame.

The final set mirrored the intensity of the third, with Sarah Lawrence continuing to match NJCU's offensive firepower. Aguilar delivered a key kill to set up match point, but Davis kept the Gryphons alive with a clutch kill of his own. The set extended past the 25-point mark before Walker and Victor De Souza (Newark, N.J./Newark East Side) sealed the win with consecutive kills, securing NJCU's third straight victory.
