WILLIAMSPORT, PA. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men's wrestling team finished in 14th place out of 19 teams at the NCAA DIII Region II Championships, hosted by Lycoming College, on the weekend of March 1-2. Freshman
Dominic Terracciano (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) and junior
Lucas Torre (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) both represented the Gothic Knights on Day Two after a strong 2-1 performance by both on Day One.
Torre was the standout performer for NJCU in the 113-pound weight class, securing a fourth-place finish in the region. In round three of the consolation bracket, he pinned Derek Bernardino of St. John Fisher in 2:34. He moved on to the consolation semifinals, where he earned a 13-5 major decision victory over Rocco Futia of Cortland State. However, Torre's journey came to an end in the third-place match, where he was narrowly defeated 6-4 by Elijah Moshenek of Alfred State. Despite the loss, Torre ended the season with an impressive 29-7 overall record, marking the most wins of the season for any Gothic Knight.
Terracciano had an exciting start to his second day at the tournament, opening with a 1:13 fall victory over Zach Dellinger of Penn State Behrend. However, he was unable to secure further victories, finishing the tournament in sixth place to wrap up his strong rookie campaign with a 27-11 record.
For the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, the Division III Championships Committee has allocated 210 positions, with each qualifying tournament sending its champion, second-place finisher, and third-place finisher from each weight class to the championship. The qualifiers will be announced on Monday, March 3.
