CORALVILLE, IOWA - Izabella Frezzo's (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton Regional) remarkable performance at the NCWWC Championships marked a significant milestone in her wrestling career and for New Jersey City University (NJCU). Competing in the 110-pound weight class, Frezzo secured sixth place, earning her All-American honors for the first time, making her the third All-American in NJCU women's wrestling history.
Frezzo's journey to All-American status began on the first day of the NCWWC Championships, where she showcased her talent and determination by finishing with a strong 3-1 record. On day two, she started with a dominant 10-0 technical fall victory over Trinity Pendergrass of Quincy University. This win set the stage for a highly competitive series of bouts to follow.
In the fifth-place match, Frezzo faced Kendra Ryan from North Central College where she was narrowly defeated with an 8-6 decision. In her next match, she was pitted against Emillie Gonzalez of Iowa, a wrestler she had already faced earlier in the tournament. Despite a hard-fought battle, Frezzo dropped the match 8-2. However, her performance throughout the championship was enough to earn her the coveted sixth-place finish, which earned her All-American status.
She finished 5-3 at the NCWWC Championships, capping off her senior season 30-7 overall, a program record in wins. She also collected 21 technical falls, the most in a season in program history as well.
