NJCU Baseball Sweeps William Paterson For The First Time In Program History, 5-3

WAYNE, N.J. - The New Jersey City University baseball team completed the series sweep of William Paterson, 5-3, on Friday, April 25 at Jeff Albies Field. With the win this afternoon, the Gothic Knights swept the Pioneers for the first time in program history, a history that dates back to 1949.

NJCU (12-23-1, 3-13) scattered 11 hits led by Garrett Allo (Monroe, N.J./East Brunswick Tech) (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and Chris Rosario (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) (3-for-4). Shawn Kish (Fords, N.J./Woodbridge) tied for the team lead with a pair of RBI while John Abrahamsen (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) added two hits. On the bump, Dom Yarson (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) (4-4) hurled eight innings with seven strikeouts and three earned runs. Eriberto Reyes (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) earned his third save of the season after throwing six pitches and allowing one hit. William Paterson (18-19, 2-14) tallied three errors and 13 hits in the loss led by Giovanni Aresta (3-for-4, 1 RBI).

Allo wasted no time recording his first of two RBI on the day when he scored Brandon Piacenza (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) with a double to right field. NJCU doubled its tally in the next inning behind an RBI single by Arian Lunar (Caracas, Venezuela/Elizabeth). The single scored Abrahamsen who reached earlier via a single to right center.

After a scoreless third inning, William Paterson responded with a run of its own in the fourth before tying the game at two with another run in the fourth. The seventh inning saw both teams plate a run to keep the game level. Kish picked up his second RBI of the game with a single to center field before Allo immediately followed with an RBI double to put NJCU ahead 5-3. Reyes entered the game and forced a double play to secure the win.
