August 29, 2025

JERSEY CITY, NJ | The New Jersey City University (NJCU) Athletics Department is proud to announce the addition of Marques Bragg as the Assistant to the Athletic Director. A former NBA and international professional player, Bragg brings more than two decades of basketball and leadership experience at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels.

Bragg, a standout at Providence College and a two-time All-Big East selection, enjoyed an 11-year professional career that included time with the Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves, and several top European clubs in Italy, Spain, and France.

No stranger to NJCU, Bragg previously served as an assistant coach for the Gothic Knights from 2009 to 2015, where he played an integral role in student-athlete development, recruiting, and game preparation. He now returns to Jersey City with even greater experience, having led Newark Tech High School as Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach while also serving as Dean of Students at both Newark Tech and North Star Academy.

In addition to his coaching experience, Bragg has built an impressive career in education and youth mentorship. He has served in leadership roles such as Dean of Students and Youth Worker with the Juvenile Justice Commission, emphasizing student development, discipline, and character building. His ability to mentor, motivate, and guide young people has been a hallmark of his career both on and off the court.

"Marques Bragg brings a tremendous wealth of experience to our department. His background in the Big East, NBA, and professional basketball has fostered a deep appreciation for elite athletic environments, while his commitment to community at the high school level reflects his dedication to student-athlete development," said Associate Vice President & Athletic Director Robert Cole. "We are excited for him to enhance the student-athlete, coach, and fan experience across all of our competitions and special events this year."

Bragg, a native of New Jersey, earned his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Providence College while competing as a men's basketball scholarship athlete. Twice named team captain, he helped lead the Friars to success in one of the nation's most competitive conferences.
With his return to NJCU, Bragg is eager to continue shaping the future of Gothic Knight basketball both on the hardwood and in the classroom.
