Men's Wrestling Cruises Past Rowan College, 38-9

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New Jersey City University's (NJCU) men's wrestling team dominated Rowan College of Gloucester County, 38-9, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Gothic Knights controlled the match from start to finish, winning seven of ten contested weight classes and securing three forfeits to build an insurmountable lead.

Dom Terracciano got NJCU rolling at 125 pounds with a major decision over Haji Saccoh, 12-3. Lucas Torre (Point Pleasant, N.J./Brick Memorial) (133) and Zack Vera (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) (149) added to the advantage with forfeit victories, while Dean Costantino (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) impressed at 141 with a technical fall over Stephen Dmytryk, 23-4.

Andy Beras (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) delivered the quickest finish of the day, pinning Seth Christinzie in just 52 seconds at 165 pounds to put NJCU ahead 27-0.

Rowan College showed fight in the middle weights, with Quinn Weismer earning a hard-fought 13-12 decision over Diego Viera (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) at 174, and Max Adelizzi securing a pin over Will Chrysler at 184 to cut the deficit to 27-9.

However, NJCU closed strong as Simeon Hunte (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) won by forfeit at 197 before Walter Thomas (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) capped the afternoon with a technical fall over Joseph Piazza at heavyweight, 21-5 in 4:57.
