JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New Jersey City University's (NJCU) women's wrestling team dominated at home on Saturday evening, defeating both New England College 37-10 and Bridgeport 45-0 in a tri-match at NJCU. Prior to the match, the Gothic Knights honored their lone senior, Dyanne Pelaez, for senior night.

Against New England College, NJCU got off to a fast start as Marielys Lugo Fernandez (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Hall Bronx) needed just 36 seconds to pin Lilie Normanie at 103 pounds. Dyanne Pelaez added a forfeit win at 110 to put the Gothic Knights ahead 10-0.

NEC briefly fought back with Madeline Li pinning Hailey Beck (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape Regional) at 117 (1:47) and Olivia Delegas winning by forfeit at 124 to tie the match at 10-10.

NJCU responded with five straight victories to pull away. Mackenzie Finn (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) delivered a technical fall over Orla King at 131 (11-0, 2:46), while Natalie Lozano (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H. Lehman) (138) and Tehana Savory (Queens, N.Y./Brooklyn Technical) (160) secured forfeit wins. Gabrielle Miller (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) earned a hard-fought 7-3 decision over Ashley Dehney at 145.

The Gothic Knights closed strong as Apryl Coffman (Sayreville, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) pinned Marisol Almanzar in just 1:07 at 180 pounds, and Izabella Luna (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) won by forfeit at 207 to seal the 37-10 victory.

In the nightcap against Bridgeport, NJCU delivered a complete shutout performance. Aracelli Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman), Pelaez, Beck, Finn, Lozano, Savory, and Luna all won by forfeit to account for 35 of the team's 45 points.

Miller provided the highlight at 145 pounds, pinning Jelene Lainez in 4:06, while Fabiana Josa (Southampton, Pa./International Christian School) capped the evening with a pin of Linette Diaz at 180 (3:38, 9-0).
