ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The New Jersey City University women's wrestling team competed at the DIII National Invite hosted by Augustana College on February 7–8, placing 20th out of 31 teams with 13 total points.
Leading the way for the Gothic Knights was rookie Tehana Savory (Queens, N.Y./Brooklyn Technical) (14-9) at 160 pounds, who finished the tournament 2-2. Savory opened competition with a dominant 1:01 fall while leading 6-0 in the first round of the championship bracket. After dropping her second bout, she rebounded in the consolation bracket with a narrow 7-6 decision before forfeiting her final match.
Junior Fabiana Josa (Southampton, Pa./International Christian School) (15-13) also posted a 2-2 record. She began her tournament with a pin while leading 5-1, fell in her next bout, and responded with a 4-1 decision in the second round of the consolation bracket before concluding her day in the following match.
Sophomore Nuria Kojic (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) (17-12) finished 1-2, highlighting her weekend with a 2:21 pin in the second round of the consolation bracket after trailing 9-4.
Rookie Natalie Lozano (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H. Lehman) (8-9) also went 1-2 at the invite, earning a 16-7 decision in the second round of the consolation bracket for her lone victory.
At 103 pounds, freshman Marielys Lugo Fernandez (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Hall Bronx) (9-11) finished 1-2, picking up a 1:48 pin (6-2) in the third round of the consolation bracket.
Freshman Aracelli Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) (11-10) rounded out NJCU's competitors, finishing 0-2 in her first national invite appearance.

The Gothic Knights return to action on Sunday, February 15, when they travel to Centenary University for the second annual Garden State Collegiate Duals at 2:00 p.m. Felician will also compete, as NJCU looks to capture back-to-back titles.
