Perales and Dean Earn NJAC & CUNYAC Honors

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and two Gothic Knights were on the list. The Gothic Knights also landed a player on the CUNYAC weekly awards list.

Andre Dean (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) (1-1) picked up NJAC Pitcher of the Week after a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts. Against Plattsburgh, Dean hurled 128 pitches through 9 innings and allowed just six hits with four walks. He forced Plattsburgh into 10 groundouts and five flyouts in the win.

Amaru Perales (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) had a career-defining week and earned the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and NJAC Player of the Week. On the week, the Gothic Knights finished 2-1, but Perales tallied 47 kills, good for 3.92 kills per set, and hit .551 offensively. Defensively, he stuffed the ball 15 times, good for an insane 1.25 blocks per set.
