JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Sophomore Meghan Gentile (Roseland, N.J./Immaculate Conception) of New Jersey City University Athletics has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region IV Third Team, as announced on Tuesday, March 17. This marks the first All-Region selection of her career.
Gentile delivered an outstanding sophomore campaign, leading the Gothic Knights with 20.1 points per game while shooting .378 from the field. She also paced the team from beyond the arc, knocking down three-pointers at a .329 clip.
In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), Gentile established herself as one of the league's premier players. She led all scorers with 20.1 points per game, topped the conference in free throw percentage (.909) and three-point field goals per game (3.1). She also finished second in three-point percentage (.329) and fifth in overall field goal percentage (.378). The Roseland, N.J. native ranked 18th in rebounding (5.3 per game) as well.Â
Defensively, Gentile contributed 1.6 steals per game, while logging heavy minutes for NJCU, ranking second on the team at 35.7 minutes per contest.
Her standout performances throughout the season earned her NJAC Player of the Week honors (Dec. 8–14) and a Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Honorable Mention during the same week. She capped her season with a Second Team All-NJAC selection.
With her All-Region recognition from D3hoops.com, Gentile is now eligible for All-American consideration.
