Ogina Sets New NJCU High Jump Record at Ramapo Invite

MAHWAH, N.J. | It was a strong showing for the Gothic Knights at the Ramapo Invite on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by dominant performances from Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter), Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two), and Tonna Ogina (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park).

Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter) was the standout of the day on the men's side, sweeping the 200m and 400m with first-place finishes. The senior clocked a personal best 21.81 in the 200m and followed it up with a 49.23 in the 400m.

Matching that energy on the women's side was Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two), who mirrored Charles's performance almost exactly, taking first in both the 200m (25.54) and the 400m (59.38).

In the field, Tonna Ogina (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park) delivered a historic performance in the women's high jump, clearing a personal best 1.73m for a first-place finish, setting a new NJCU school record in the process. The mark currently leads all of Division III. Senior Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) also set a personal best in the women's hammer throw, launching it 26.21m to finish 18th.

On the men's track, freshman David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) got things started in the 100m prelims with a personal best 11.82. Fellow freshman Thadisen Liddell (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) competed in both the 100m prelims and the 200m, finishing with a time of 25.42 in the latter. Johnair Gonzalez (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) also notched a personal best in the 200m (25.34).

Senior Gerard Victor (Irvington, N.J./Donald M. Payne Tech) ran a 2:22.46 in the 800m, and freshman Peter Chrysler (Trenton, N.J./Highland Regional) finished the 1500m in 5:40.99. Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) ran in the 100m prelims and recorded a time of 12.81.
