Track & Field Opens NJAC Championships with Multiple Finalists, Podium Finish

MAHWAH, N.J. – The New Jersey City University outdoor track & field team opened competition at the 2026 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 2, delivering several standout performances and multiple finalists.

Tonna Ogina (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park) led the way in the field events, earning a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.39 meters, matching her season best and securing a spot on the podium.

On the track, Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two) and Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter) made strong statements in the 400-meter first rounds. Both athletes won their respective heats, qualified for the finals, and met AARTFC standards. Henderson posted a time of 58.66 seconds to rank fifth overall, while Charles clocked 48.82 seconds, good for third.

Henderson returned later in the day to compete in the 200 meters, continuing her impressive performance. She placed fourth overall in 25.27 seconds, again qualifying for AARTFC and advancing to the final after winning her heat.

Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) also advanced to a Day 2 final, finishing fourth overall in the 100-meter preliminaries with a time of 12.37 seconds and placing second in her heat. She added another strong showing in the 200 meters, placing 13th in 25.70 seconds while achieving an AARTFC qualifying mark.

In the field events on the men's side, David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) recorded a personal-best jump of 6.64 meters to place eighth in the long jump. Sirell Clark (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter) opened his outdoor season with a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw at 42.19 meters.

For the women, Hailey Beck (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape Regional) placed 13th in the javelin with a throw of 20.76 meters, while Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) recorded a personal-best mark of 31.59 meters in the hammer throw to finish 16th.

Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) turned in a time of 50.17 seconds in the 400 meters, placing 16th overall and third in his heat. Johnair Gonzalez (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) added a personal-best leap of 5.72 meters in the long jump, finishing 21st.

Several athletes posted personal-best performances further down the results. Kyanah-Belle Jean-Louis (Montreal, Canada/Washington Township (N.J.)) ran 28.25 seconds in the 200 meters to place 26th and also finished 24th in the 100 meters (13.70). Kameron McGainey (Union, N.J./Union) recorded personal-best times in both sprints, running 11.70 in the 100 meters and 23.71 in the 200 meters. Thad Liddell followed with times of 12.18 and 25.02 in the same events.

Natalie Lozano (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H. Lehman) placed 29th in the 100 meters (14.76), while Kimore Boatwright made his collegiate debut with a 30th-place finish in 12.52 seconds.
