MAHWAH, N.J. — The New Jersey City University track & field team turned in a strong showing on day two of the NJAC Outdoor Championships, with the men's team finishing eighth overall with 14 points and the women's team placing sixth with 43 points. NJCU also captured two individual conference titles, posted multiple All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying marks, and recorded a series of career-best efforts.

Leading the way, the Gothic Knights swept both 400-meter finals. Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two) claimed the women's title in 57.41, a season-best time that also met AARTFC qualifying standards. Henderson added a second podium finish in the 200 meters, placing third in 24.75, another season-best performance.

On the men's side, Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter) secured NJAC gold, for the second time of his career, in the 400 meters with a career-best 47.43, also earning AARTFC qualification.

In the field, Tonna Ogina (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park) captured the NJAC championship in the triple jump with a mark of 11.23 meters, hitting the AARTFC standard, and added another podium finish in the high jump, placing third with a mark of 1.58 meters. Ogina also helped the 4x100-meter relay team—alongside Kyanah-Belle Jean-Louis (Montreal, Canada/Washington Township (N.J.)), Henderson, and Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret)—place sixth in 50.15 in the quartet's first race of the season. Additional scoring performances included Raven Orange's (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) seventh-place finish in the 100-meter final, where she finished in a career-best 12.47.

In the men's triple jump, David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) recorded an eighth-place finish with a leap of 12.84 meters, before returning to compete on the 4x400-meter relay team with Goncalo Carvalho (Newark, N.J./East Side), Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter), and Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens). The group placed seventh in 3:29.10, marking NJCU's first 4x400 relay of the season. Carvalho also competed individually in the 800 meters, finishing 17th in 2:02.71.

In the throwing events, Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) led NJCU with a career-best 8.44 meters in the shot put, placing 19th. She also competed in the discus, finishing 26th with a mark of 23.05 meters. Izabella Luna (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) (21st, 6.69m), Tehana Savory (Queens, N.Y./Brooklyn Technical) (22nd, 6.43m), and Hailey Beck (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape Regional) (23rd, 6.33m) rounded out NJCU's shot put entries, with Savory and Beck each making their collegiate debuts in the event. Beck also competed in the discus, placing 27th with a throw of 17.24 meters in her first collegiate appearance.
