2008-2009 Highlights: (10/31 to 11/1 at Fright Night Invite at FDU):  Was 14th with a pinfall of exactly 1,000 (181-203-187-235-194) for a 200.0 average in her debut for the Gothic Knights after transferring from FDU...(11/21 at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic- Millsboro, DE): Bowled 155, 152, 194, 149, 156, and 175 in the opening day of the tournament as the Knights went 3-3...(11/22 at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic- Millsboro, DE): Posted a 196.17 average and concluded her day with a 652 series (211-233-208)...She had a 1,177 six-game total (179-163-183--211--233-208) with a 211 against DSU for the 196.17 average...(11/23 at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic- Millsboro, DE): Was eighth of 125 bowlers in the final tournament individual standings...(11/24): Was named NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career following her weekend performance in the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic...(12/6-7 at the Jeanette Lee Invitational, St. Paul's College, Bowl America Southwest): Split time with Jennifer Daunno, bowling three games with a 545 total (195-169-181) for a 181.67 average...(1/10 at Terriers New Year Knockdown, hosted by St. Francis College, NY): Had 1,013 pinfall (203-178-192-232-208) for a 202.60 average on the first day of the tournament...(2/7 at the Capital Classic, hosted by Delaware State University- Brunswick Doverama): Posted a 209.20 average, with a five-game pinfall of 1046 (216-210-210-195-215) in the opening round of the Capital Classic...(2/8 at the Capital Classic hosted by Delaware State University-Brunswick Doverama): Named to the All-Tournament Team following her performance in the two days of competition...(3/6 at ECAC Women's Bowling Singles Championship): Was 78th with a 627 set (114-180-165-168, 156.75)...(3/7 at the ECAC Women's Bowling Championship): Finished with 1,070 pins (193-236-129-191-182-139) and a 178.33 average...(4/9 at the 2009 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championships at Super Bowl Lanes in Canton, MI):  Listed 28th overall with a 175.25 average and a 701 pinfall, bowling 149-168-180-204...Bowled in the leadoff spot in the Baker lineup on the team that broke the single-game NCAA Baker record by bowling a 278...(4/10 at the 2009 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championships at Super Bowl Lanes in Canton, MI):  Also bowled in the leadoff spot in NJCU's defeat of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and their loss to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, finishing in fifth place in the country...
 

High School: A June 2007 graduate of Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, NJ…Had a 3.78 GPA and was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior…Named to the Academic and Attitude Honor Roll as a freshman, junior and senior...The 2005 NJSIAA Girls’ Bowling Individual State Champion…Led the Barrons to the 2006 and 2007 state championship, four Middlesex County titles and four Greater Middlesex Conference crowns in her four-year varsity career for Coach Michael Yannazzo...Averaged 171 as a freshman in 2003-04, before increasing that mark by more than 20 points to 193 as a sophomore in 2004-05…Posted a 184 average as a junior (2005-06) before finishing with a 190 as a senior in 2006-07. 2006-2007 season (senior): Represented New Jersey at the inaugural Denny’s All-American High School Championships held in Grand Rapids, MI from March 23-25, 2007, qualifying fourth with a six-game pinfall of 1,604 and a 200.50 average…Advanced to the semifinals, losing in match play, 3-1, to placed fourth in the event…A 2007 regional finalist for the Pepsi Tournament (Jersey Lanes; Linden, NJ)…First-Team All-Area and All-GMC Red Division…Individually, won the 2007 Winter Classic with the second highest series (656) and third best game (246)…Crowned the 2007 Junior Masters Champion as part of the Dr. Benjamin Weisenfeld Memorial Middlesex County USBC Youth Association for the second straight season…As a team, Woodbridge won the 2007 NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, NJSIAA Group III state title, Central Jersey Group III Sectional crown and GMC Red Division team title…Team won the Winter Classic tournament title in January 2007 at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick…In December 2006, won the Westfield Invitational title (Jersey Lanes) and Bishop Ahr crown (Carolier Lanes)…Led the Middlesex County Junior Travel League to a team championship. 2005-2006 season (junior): The 2006 Junior Masters Champion…First-Team All-Area…A 2006 Teen Masters National Finalists (Orlando, FL)…Barrons captured the NJSIAA state championship and GMC White Division title, finishing in second place in the Central Jersey sectional tournament…Team claimed the Brick tournament championship (Ocean Lanes; Lakewood, NJ) in January 2006 and both the Westfield Invitational and Joe Romer tournament wins in December 2005…Paced the Middlesex County Junior Travel League to a third place finish. 2004-2005 season (sophomore): En route to winning the NJSIAA Individual state championship (Carolier Lanes), her 244 was the high game of the tournament and she rolled a 637 and 651 series for a 1,288 total pinfall and the #1 overall seed among individual qualifiers…She captured the state title with a 192-190 victory in the finals…She was named First-Team All-State, Star Ledger Bowler of the Year, Home News Tribune Bowler of the Year, First-Team All-Area and All-GMC White Division…A 2005 national state finalist for the Pepsi Tournament (Majestic Lanes; Hopelawn, NJ)…At the Westfield Invitational, Small had the third highest game (232) and series (633)…Won the 2005 New Jersey Grand Prix Junior Singles Division championship with a pinfall of 1,392 (Woodbridge Bowling Center)…Guided Woodbridge to another perfect 24-0 record while winning the Central Jersey sectional and GMC White Division team championships before finishing in second place at the NJSIAA state tournament…Led club to Brick Tournament championship in January 2005…Barrons won the Westfield Invitational and Joe Romer tournaments…She also led the Middlesex County Junior Travel League to a team championship. 2003-2004 season (freshman): Part of a team which went 24-0 and seized the GMC White Division title and second place at the NJSIAA state tournament…WHS won the Joe Romer Tournament (Carolier Lanes) in December 2003…Soccer/softball: Played four years of softball (three varsity) for Coach Stewart Jago and three seasons of soccer (two varsity) for Coaches Glenn Lottman and Brian Figueiredo…An accomplished soccer player, she owns the Woodbridge career shutouts record of 28 in only two seasons…Was named Honorable Mention All-Area as a goalkeeper in 2005 with a 17-6-1 record and 10 shutouts…Posted 18 shutouts as a senior in 2006 when the Barrons went 19-3-1…Helped Woodbridge win the 2005 and 2006 Greater Middlesex County White Division championship and second place each year in the GMC conference tournament…In net in 2006 as Woodbridge advanced to the Group IV, North 2 championship game, finishing second in the state sectionals…As a three-year softball player and centerfield for Woodbridge, the team captain helped the Barrons qualify for the state tournament in 2006 and 2007…High school teammate of Sacred Heart University’s Nicole Caggiano.

 

Pre-High School: In 2002, she was on the second-place team at the Woodbridge Bowling Center Scholarship League and in 2003, was part of the league champions…Led the Middlesex County Junior Travel League team to the 2002-03 title.

 

Personal: Amanda Renee Small…Born September 28, 1989 in Edison, NJ…Parents are Karen Drost and Brian Small…Has four younger siblings—Brian Small, Jr. (18), Kyle Small (12), Brielle Small (10) and John Drost (9)…Major at NJCU is Special Education…Intends to become a teacher and coach high school sports after graduating…Nickname is “Smalls”…People began calling her “Smalls’ because of the movie “Sandlot”…When not bowling, she works in a bowling alley and coaches younger children in bowling to enhance their skills…Also umpires girls softball in the Woodbridge Township Little League and referees street hockey for the Woodbridge Junior Street Hockey League…Also works with charities benefiting people suffering from cancer….Currently serves as a Director for the Middlesex County USBC Youth Association…Plays street hockey for the local PBA association, in addition to tennis and basketball…Serves as a junior member of the Port Reading First Aid Squad.
