Biography

2012 Highlights: (3/7 vs. Centenary): Came out of the pen for two effective innings of relief, allowing one unearned run and two hits with two strikeouts and no walks. (3/10 vs. Daniel Webster @ Russ Matt Invitational): Fired a complete-game four-hitter for his first career shutout, allowing just four singles in nine innings and 73 of his 104 pitches went for strikes. He struck out four and walked none (three hit batters) and possessed a two-hitter entering the ninth inning before sealing his four career complete game.  (3/20 vs. #25 Neumann): Received a no-decision in his third start of the season. He allowed just three earned runs (eight total) on 10 hits, struck out three and walked none over 83 pitches in 6.0 innings.(3/24 vs. #27 St. Joseph's - Maine): Suffered his first loss (1-1) in game two of the doubleheader. In 7.0 innings, he allowed just two earned runs (five total) on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks. (3/29 @ Drew): Struck out three batters over 19 pitches in an eighth inning relief appearance, allowing one hit and one walk. (4/1 vs. Rutgers-Newark): Allowed only two earned runs (three total) and six hits in 7.0 innings, with three strikeouts and one walk over 111 pitches. He moved into third place in school history in career strikeouts with 129 and moved into sixth place in school history in career starts (25) and 10th in appearances (37). (4/6 @ William Paterson): Suffered the loss, despite allowing just two runs in the first six innings. He finished allowing seven earned runs and nine hits with three strikeouts and five walks. (4/12 @ Kean): Suffered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits with one strikeout in 2.0 innings. (4/14 @ Ramapo): In game two, he allowed three earned runs (five total) and eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks. (4/27 vs. Montclair): Suffered the loss on a day where he pitched well enough to win. In a 149-pitch complete-game effort-his third of the season and seventh of his career, Maldonado allowed just one earned run (three total) and seven hits, all of which were singles. He struck out seven to increase his second-place career total to 145 while walking six and hitting three batters. 

2011 Highlights: (3/5 vs. Clark University @ Russ Matt Invitational): Despite the loss in Game 2, struck out six and walked none in the complete-game performance. (3/26 vs. St. Joseph's College-Maine): Tossed a 6.0 inning no-decision, allowing no earned runs and six hits with two Ks and two walks. (4/9 @ Rutgers-Camden): Had the finest pitching performance of the season for the NJCU pitching staff, tossing 8.0 innings of seven-hit baseball, with eight strikeouts and only one walk without allowing an earned run for his first win of the year (1-3). (4/16 vs. Ramapo College): Struck out a career-high nine batters. (4/27 vs. Montclair State University): Became the 10th player in school history to strikeout out 100 batters in a career...fanned exactly eight versus just one walk in a 119-pitch, complete-game victory (2-5), allowing just three runs and seven hits. (5/3 @ Centenary College):
Struck out seven, walked four and allowed just two runs and seven hits in the complete game victory... started the game with 100 career strikeouts and in 10th place in program history, but vaulted into seventh place after three seasons with 107 Ks.

2010 Highlights:  (3/20 vs. St. Joseph's College of Maine): 
Had a fair outing, allowing only four earned runs (six overall) and seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 6.0 innings...(4/24 at Stockton):  Took the loss (1-6), allowing seven earned runs and eight hits with one K and four walks...

2009 Highlights: (3/10 vs. Drew University at the Russ Matt College Invitational): Tossed the final four innings and notched his first career save...He fanned seven, walked one, with no runs and only three hits against...(3/12 vs. Keystone College at the Russ Matt College Invitational): Pitched the final 5.1 innings in relief...Struck out five, walked two, and allowed six runs on nine hits...(3/27 vs. William Paterson): Was the fifth pitcher for NJCU. He struck out two in the ninth inning, allowing just one walk...(3/28 vs. Richard Stockton College): Earned his first collegiate win in relief (1-1). He tossed 2.0 innings of no-hit baseball, with one strikeout over just 23 pitches...(4/6 at Kean University): Took the loss (1-3), allowing six earned runs and 11 hits with four strikeouts and and two walks in 5.2 innings...

High School: A June 2008 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Jersey City, NJ where he ranked No. 2 in his class with a 3.68 GPA…Played two seasons of baseball, both on the varsity level, for coach Patrick Laguerre…He earned First-Team All-Hudson County, First-Team All-Seglio Division and Second-Team All-State Non Public B honors…He had a 7-1 high school won-loss record with a 1.575 ERA…He helped lead the Ramblers to back-to-back HCIAA Seglio tournaments in 2007 and 2008, winning the Seglio conference title with a 12-0 record in the league…He also pitched in the 2008 state sectional Parochial B championship game…A high-school teammate of current NJCU teammates Alvin Carrasco and Juan Cruz.
