CAREER HIGHLIGHTS/AWARDS:
2011 Highlights: (9/3/2011 @ Drew Fall Festival): Contributed one of the two NJCU assists. (9/4 vs. Medgar Evers @ Drew Fall Festival): Rewrote the NJCU single-game scoring record books, coming off the bench to bury five goals and 10 points in 34 minutes of action, erasing school records in those categories that had stood for 37 and 36 years, respectively. (9/5): NJCU Player of the Week. (9/7 @ CCNY): Increased his club lead to 13 points through three games with his two assists. He moved into seventh place in program history with 73 career points. (9/11 vs. Cabrinia at York Tournament): Made of one of the two goals for NJCU and moved into sixth place in program history with 75 points. (9/21 vs. St. Joseph's College): Added an assist. (9/22): Ranks nationally in four categories—15th in points per game (2.50), 18th in goals per game (1.00), 22nd in total goals (6) and 23rd in total points (15). (10/1 @ Stockton): Made it a one-goal game at 80:30. (10/3): Named Athlete of the Week for NJCU. (10/8 @ Rowan): Provided an assist. (10/22 vs. TCNJ): Moved into second place in school history in total goals and third in career points by netting the 36th, 37th and 38th goals of his career to give the Gothic Knights a 3-0 lead. (10/24 vs. Ramapo): Scored his 12th goal of the season and 39th of his standout career. (11/3): First-Team All-NJAC. (12/22): Named Second-Team All-ECAC.
2010 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: (09/01/2010 vs. City College of New York): Recorded an unassisted tally in a 5-0 victory. (10/04/2010 vs. Lehman): Tallied a season-high 7 points including a hat-trick and an assist in the 7-0 blanking of the Lightning. (10/11/2010 vs. John Jay): Posted his second hat-trick of the season with a 3 goal performance as part of a 10-0 rout of the Bloodhounds. (10/20/2010 vs. Brooklyn College): Scored twice in a 5-0 blanking of Brooklyn. His 25th and 26th career goals, respectively, moved him into sixth place in school history for career markers. His seven shots in the contest dwarfed the entire Bulldogs' team, who managed just four in all. (10/23/2010 @ The College of New Jersey): Tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-3 setback. Finished the season with 10 markers.
2009 Highlights: (9/5 vs. Greensboro College): Had a single goal...(9/9 vs. York College): Scored twice, and was the lone player with multiple goals...He tallied the only two NJCU would need, notching back-to-back markers in a span of 48 seconds (19:50 and 20:38) for a 2-0 lead...(9/9 vs. John Jay College): Had two goals for four points, and had eight shots...(9/10 vs. York College- NY): Tied the single-game school record for goals with four and collected the first hat trick by a New Jersey City University men’s soccer player in two years...Now has seven goals in five games and became the sixth player in school history to collect at least eight points in a game, one shy of the program mark of nine accomplished twice...Notched the first hat trick since Christian Acuna, now an assistant coach did on September 16, 2007...(9/12 vs. College of Staten Island in the2009 Liberty Cup): Registered his third consecutive game with multiple goals, upping his weekly total to eight, as he scored the second and third goals of the game within a span of 3:05...One of the goals was unassisted...(9/14): Named the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week and the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week for week two of the 2009 season, after he posted a four-game span, scoring eight goals for 16 points with one game-winner...These are Avans' first career awards and he is the first NJCU men's player to be selected for NJAC Offensive Player of the Week since Jonathan Bilbao on November 5, 2007...In four games, had 24 shots, including 14 on goal...Half of his goals for the week were unassisted tallies...(9/23 vs. Kean University): Scored his 10th goal of the year 1:26 into the opening period...(10/5 at Brooklyn College): Scored his team-best 11th goal of the season... (10/10 vs. TCNJ): Notched his 12th goal of the year...(10/14 at William Paterson University): Scored two goals to force a 2-2 tie...It was his third game-tying goal of the season...(10/26 vs. Rutgers-Camden): Scored the lone goal for NJCU on a penalty kick at 72:17 of the second half. His 15th goal of the year, he is one shy of the NJAC lead in scoring and climbed into a tie for seventh place in single-season school history...
2008 Highlights: (09/07 vs. College of Mount Saint Vincent in TCNJ Soccer Classic): Had a four-point day, scoring once and chipping in two assists for his first collegiate scoring...
