2014 Season Highlights: (3/2 @ Wesley): credited with the RBI for NJCU's first run...(3/14 vs. Waynesburg):  had two RBIs, one run and a double while batting 2-for-4...had a two-out RBI double to right center in the bottom of the eighth to get one run back for NJCU...(3/14 vs. Bowdoin): had a pair of hits (2-4)...(3/20 @ SUNY Old Westbury): was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored...(3/22 @ Washington): Scored twice...(3/25 vs. Mount St. Mary): drove in a run and scored once...(3/27 @ Drew): drove in two runs...(4/5 @ Rutgers-Newark-game 1): scored twice and drove in a run...(4/5 @ Rutgers-Newark-game 2): struck out two batters against one hit in the seventh inning...(4/7 vs. Rutgers-Camden): had his first collegiate start at pitcher...struck out three, walked one and allowed just two earned runs (three total) and eight hits over 118 pitches while facing 31 batters; he coaxed 12 fly outs and six groundouts...(4/10 vs. Stockton): went 2-for-4...intentionally got caught in a 9-3-6-4 rundown after his hit, allowing Sheldrick to score the tying run, 2-2 in the bottom of the 5th...(4/11 @ Stockton): collected an RBI...(4/12 @ Kean-game 2): allowed just seven hits while striking out five and walking none in 8.0 shutout innings of work over 93 pitches...(4/18 vs. Rowan): had a pinch hit RBI groundout...(4/26 @ Montclair State-game 2): went 8.2 innings, allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts and four walks over 134 pitches...(4/29 @ Gwynedd-Mercy): scored twice and doubled...(5/2 @ Centenary): singled and scored once...


2013 Season Highlights: (2/16 @ Washington & Lee - Game 2): Scored twice. (3/9 vs. Penn State-Abington @ Russ Matt Spring Break Invitational): Drove in the first run of the game, going 1-for-3 with a run scored. (3/10 vs. Medaille @ Russ Matt Spring Break Invitational): Went 2-for-3 with a run scored. (3/21 vs. Old Westbury): Was 2-for-3 with one RBI. (3/26 vs. John Jay): Tallied a run scored and an RBI. (4/1 vs. Drew): Scored twice and was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double. (4/6 vs. Rutgers-Newark): Was 5-for-8 for the day while adding a pair of RBIs. (4/15 vs. Richard Stockton): Was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one double. (4/18 vs. Rowan): Batted 2-for-4. ?(4/23 @ Mount Saint Vincent): Was 2-for-5.

2012 Highlights: (3/10 vs. Daniel Webster @ Russ Matt Invitational): Made his first career start and was NJCU's lone player with multiple hits, batting 2-for-4 with the lone run scored. (3/12 vs. Rhode Island College @ Russ Matt Invitational): Made his second career start and had another multiple hit game, scoring four runs in a 2-for-4 effort with a double, while making five putouts in right field. He twice reached on an error and scored each time.  (3/20 vs. #25 Neumann): Went 1-for-2 with a run and RBI. (3/22 vs. St. Joseph's - Brooklyn):  Went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs and two doubles. (3/27 vs. John Jay): Was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, knocking in NJCU's first two runs of the game. (4/5 vs. William Paterson): Was 1-for-3 with one RBI. (4/7 vs. Rutgers-Camden): Was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and two walks in game one. (4/12 @ Kean): Was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, one run and a double. (4/17 vs. Baruch): Scored twice in a 1-for-4, one-RBI day. (4/19 vs. TCNJ): Knocked in two RBIs in a 2-for-5 showing. (4/21 vs. Rowan): Was a combined 4-for-9. Added a RBI and run in game one. (4/26 @ Montclair): Had two hits. (4/27 vs. Montclair): Was 1-for-4 with one run. (4/28 @ Richard Stockton): Had one hit in game one and went 3-for-4 with one RBI in game two. 

High School:  A June 2011 graduate of Colonia High School in Colonia, NJ he was a four-year baseball player (three varsity) for the Patriots for Coach Thomas Hennessy…He also played four seasons of varsity basketball for Coach Christopher Chiera…High school teammate of Delio Coutino and Ryan Mitchell…Played in the GMC’s senior all-star game and named to its 2009 All-Sophomore Team…Played AAU baseball for the Full Count Baseball Club where current NJCU assistant coach Matt Cilento is among the instructors.
 
Personal:  Matthew Wagner…Born August 20, 1993 in Rahway, NJ…Nickname is ‘Wags’…Bats and throws right-handed…Parents are Jeanne and Neal Wagner…The youngest of four brothers in his family; older brothers are Brian (30), Kevin (28) and Brendan (22)…Major at NJCU is Accounting with a concentration in sports management...Named to the Dean’s list for Fall 2011... Career goal is to be an accountant for a major sports team and become a coach...Lists Ken Griffey, Jr. as his hero.
