For starters: Janissa Cardona will be the starting second baseman this year, replacing former All-NJAC standout Danielle Delfino. As a freshman last year she played in 32 of 38 games with 29 starts, tallying 13 hits and 11RBIs…Cardona is the 2011-12 Recorder for the NJCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
2012 Highlights: (3/13 vs. Mitchell @ Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic): Produced a 3-for-3 effort with one run and one RBI.
(3/15 vs. MCLA @ Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic): Was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
(3/22 vs. Baruch): Went 1-for-3 with one RBI in game one.
(3/29 vs. St. Joseph's - NY): Added an RBI in game two.
(4/22 @ TCNJ): Added a RBI in game two.
2011 Highlights: (3/9 vs. Elms College): Hit 2-for-5 with two RBIs in her first career start. (3/18 vs. Brooklyn College): Had 2 RBIs with a pinch-hit walkoff single in Game 1.
(4/7 vs. Baruch): 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
(4/22 @ College of Staten Island): Was 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double.
(4/26 @ Richard Stockton College): Produced a 2-for-3 effort with one RBI in Game 2.
(4/30 @ Rowan University): Was the lone player with multiple hits for NJCU, going 2-for-3.
High School: A June 2010 graduate of Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, NJ…Graduated with honors with a 3.3 GPA…Played four seasons of varsity softball for the Minutemen for Coach Devin Dudas…High school teammate of NJCU teammate Nicole Calixto…As a senior, she batted .405 with 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored and was named Third-Team All-Union County as Elizabeth went 10-9..
