  • New Jersey City University Athlete of the Week (December 17, 2012)

2014-15 Season Highlights: (11/15 vs Bryn Athyn): Scored 12 points in just 29 minutes of play. (11/19 @ John Jay): Equalled her career high of 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in 30 minutes. (11/22 vs Kean): Finished with eight points and four blocks in 36 minutes. (12/3 @ William Paterson): Finished with 10 points and three steals. (12/10 @ Ramapo): Recorded a career high 25 points to go along with five assists. Become one of just 35 Gothic Knights to do so. (12/13 vs Purchase): Added four more three pointers to her season total and finished with 13 points and five rebounds.(1/3 vs Green Mountain): Hit 6-of-9 from the field including five or her seven three-point tries, to finish with a game-high 17 points in only 12 minutes of action. (1/7 vs Stockton): Tallied eight points and eight bords off the bench in 23 minutes. (1/10 @ TCNJ): Finished with nine points. (1/12 @ St. Joseph's of Brooklyn): Collected 11 points on 6-of-8 free throws. (1/17 vs Montclair State): Produced 14 points on 3-of-8 three point accuracy, adding seven rebounds and two blocks. (1/24 @ Kean):  Finished with nine points, three blocks, three assists and two steals. (2/4 vs Ramapo): Finished with 15 points and four steals in 24 minutes of action. (2/9 vs William Paterson): Knocked down 16 points and seven rebounds. (2/11 @ Richard Stockton): Led NJCU with 12 points in 25 minutes. (2/15 @ Montclair State): Finished with nine points, five rebounds and two blocks. (2/18 vs Rutgers-Camden): Totaled 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and a block in 30 minutes of action. 

2013-14 Baksetball Highlights: (11/15 vs. Salem State): Collected 10 points. (11/16 vs. Norwich): Finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four steals. (12/7 vs. Stockton): Had 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3FG), five rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks in a productive 30 minutes. (12/11 vs. USMMA): Contributed seven points, two assists and two blocks...(12/18 vs. Redlands):contributed four assists...(12/21 vs. Centenary):collected seven rebounds and three assists...(1/11 @ William Paterson): was the third Gothic Knight to reach double figures, scoring all 12 of her points in the first half when she was 3-of-5 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point distance and 4-of-4 from the line...(1/15 vs. Rutgers- Camden):  equaled her career high in the first half alone when she shot 4-of-6 from three-point range before concluding her night with a game-best 18 points (6-12 FG, 4-9 3FG, 2-2 FT) and four assists in 27 minutes. It was her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season and 14th of her career...(1/18 @ TCNJ): collected eight points....(1/25 vs. Rowan):  produced her sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season and 15th of her career, finished with 12 points, six rebounds (four offensive) and two steals...(1/29 @ Rutgers- Newark): finished with a team-high 11 points (3-14 FG, 2-9 3FG) and six rebounds...(2/1 vs. Kean): collected 12 points (4-9 FG), four steals, three blocks and two assists...(2/6 @ Stockton): netted 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting and 5-of-7 free throw accuracy. In 33 minutes she equaled a career high with eight rebounds...(2/15 vs. TCNJ):  totaled eight points, five rebounds and four assists...(2/19 @ Rutgers-Camden): scored 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 5-of-5 free throw accuracy while knocking down 3-of-6 from three-point distance...added three blocks and three steals in 19 reserve minutes.

2012-13 Basketball Highlights: (11/18 vs. Lesley @ Cheryl Warren-Powers '95 Memorial Tournament): Scored seven points (3-5 FG) in eight minutes of play. (12/10 vs. FDU-Florham): Came off the bench to contribute 10 points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3FG) in 23 minutes. (12/12 @ Montclair):  Added 10 points and shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. (12/15 vs. Manhattanville): Reached double figures for the third straight game, scoring a career-high 14 points, including two three-pointers. She shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line in 24 reserve minutes. (12/19 vs. USMMA): Scored eight points in 21 minutes. (1/16 @ Ramapo): Chipped in eight points (3-9 FG), sinking 2-of-5 from three-point distance. (1/21 @ New Rochelle): Added seven points, four steals and three blocks. (2/2 @ William Paterson): Scored a team-high 13 points (5-9 FG), including two three-pointers (2-of-3). 

2011-12 Basketball Highlights: (11/19 @ Cherry Cove Seahawk Tournament vs. Cabrini): Finished with eight points (3-7 FG). (12/5 vs. John Jay): Collected career highs of nine points (4-10 FG), eight rebounds and two blocked shots. (12/7 vs. New Rochelle): Came off the bench and scored 12 of NJCU's 34 points. (12/10 vs. CCNY): Contributed seven rebounds, seven points and four assists. (1/14 @ Richard Stockton): Scored a team-high 11 points. (1/18 vs. William Paterson): Added eight points and two steals. (1/21 vs. TCNJ): Finished with 10 points, seven rebounds (all defensive) and two blocks. Hit all five shots she attempted from the free throw line. (2/4 vs. Berkeley): Shot 2-for-4 from three-point range and had six points. (2/8 @ Montclair): Chipped in eight points and three rebounds.

2011 Volleyball Summary: Was a two-time NJCU Women’s Athlete of the Week…For the season she played in 25 of 27 matches (25 starts) and 88 sets and totaled 207 kills, 44 blocks and 15 digs. She had a .210 hitting percentage (207-74-633), 2.35 kills per set and 0.50 blocks per set (39 solo, five assisted). Medley reached double figures in kills eight times including a career high 25 on October 22 at CCNY, becoming the fifth known player in program history with at least 25 kills in a match. She twice had five blocks in a match and stuffed three or more blocks eight times.
 
2011-12 Basketball Summary: Played 24 games (10 starts) at shooting guard/small forward, averaging 5.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game with 17 steals and 11 blocks.
 
High School:  A June 2011 graduate of Hudson Catholic High School in Jersey City, NJ… Played varsity basketball
for one year under Coach Felicia Harris-Sellers and one year of varsity volleyball for Coach Fernando Colon. Medley was named Second-Team All-Hudson County and led the Hawks to the county playoffs in both sports. She also played club volleyball…She only attended Hudson Catholic for one year…She set a school record for kills and blocks in a season at Hudson Catholic…Previously, she attended Benjamin N. Cardona High School in Bayside, Queens from her freshman thru junior seasons…Played AAU basketball for ‘Positive Direction’ (Coach Joann Arbitello) and ‘New Heights/Exodus’ (Coach Dennis Avilia).

Coach Mulligan on Medley: “Jade has all the potential in the world. She can really build upon what she started last year in that she can come into a game and commanded the court. I think she’s going to be a big component of our team because she can be a game changer. She’s athletic—more than most players—and her understanding of the game has developed greatly since her freshman year.”
 
Coach Vance on Medley: “Jade will be a dominant force for our team this season. Her growth and maturity since last season is evident in the work she has put in this preseason. She will be a staple in the middle for our team.”
 
Personal: Jade Shakirah Medley… Born August 31, 1993 in Brooklyn, NY…Right-handed…Parents are Donna Parker-Medley and Billy Medley…Has three older siblings—brothers Kevin (38) and Lawrence (30), and sister, Kizzy (35)…Is a cousin of NBA Hall of Famer, Julius Erving (Dr. J)… Major at NJCU is Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She intends to become a psychiatrist… Describes herself as very athletics and as ‘determined, a leader, optimistic, encouraging and outgoing’…Enjoys reading and writing.
