2020-21: Played in four games, making two starts as a senior in the shortened Spring season … started and played 38 minutes in the opener at Montclair State (3/13) … also got the nod and saw 30 minutes in the home-opener against Rutgers-Camden (3/17).
2019: Saw action in 18 games as a junior … recorded a goal and an assist, taking three shots — two on goal — in the 9-1 win at Pratt (9/11) … attempted two shots in the 2-0 win at Valley Forge (10/6) … attempted to shots on goal against TCNJ (10/19).
2018: Played in 13 games as a sophomore, making two starts … took two shots, both on goal, in the 4-0 win over CMSV (8/31) … also took two shots on net in 27 minutes in the 3-0 win over St. Joe’s-Brooklyn (9/19) … saw a season-high 64 minutes in his first-career start, taking one shot on goal against Rowan (10/6) … also got the start at Montclair State (10/9) … recorded his first-career point, scoring a hat trick on four on-target shots in the 7-0 win at York (10/17).
2017: Saw action in five games as a rookie … made his collegiate debut and played 13 minutes against York (9/17) … saw a season-high 25 minutes at Stockton (10/21).
High School: A 2017 graduate of William L. Dickinson High School … four-year varsity soccer team member … All-County and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior … High School MVP as a senior.
Personal: Son of Iris Portillo and Luis Laing, Sr. … as four siblings, Damian, Jason, Francis and Stacy … sister graduated from NJCU in 2016 … minoring in administration … pursuing a career as a financial advisor.
