For starters: A 2006 junior college Third-Team All-American, he transferred from Bronx Community College…A highly-touted shortstop for the Knights…The nephew of former New York Mets standout shortstop Rafael Santana.
Bronx Community College, 2005-06: A 2006 Third-Team All-American and two-time All-Region XV and All CUNYAC Community College standout…Earned honors at two different infield positions while playing two years for the Broncos and Coach Adolfo DeJesus…A junior college teammate of current City College of New York players Richard Gomez and Gelphim Gomez.
Bronx Community College, 2006: In 2006, he was an NJCAA Division III Third-Team All-American, First-Team All-CUNY and First-Team All-Region at shortstop, after guiding BCC to the CUNYAC Community College baseball championship…The title was the Broncos first since 2002, after being defeated in the championship game in three consecutive seasons…BCC was 22-14-1 overall and 9-1 in the CUNYAC…Named to the Region XV All-Tournament Team after BCC advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.

2008 Highlights: (03/06 vs. Muhlenberg College at Russ Matt College Spring Break Invitational): 1-for-4 with an RBI to extend his two-year active hitting streak to 28 consecutive games—the longest in Division III. He added insurance in the seventh and extended his hitting streak with an RBI single that scored another run for the Knights... (03/07 vs. Aurora College): Went2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run, and has now reached base in all 39 games of his NJCU career. He extended the hitting streak in the sixth inning when he crushed a one-out homerun to left field, which tied the game at 2-2... (03/10 vs. Coe College): 1-for-3 with a double to extend his two-year active school and New Jersey Athletic Conference record hitting streak to 33 consecutive games—the longest known active string in NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA baseball. He also reached base for the 43rd consecutive game to open his NJCU career. He has hits in 42 of 43 career games... (03/11 vs. Wheaton College (IL)):  Had one hit in the opening game and went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in the nightcap to extend his two-year active school and NJAC record hitting streak to 35 consecutive games, also reached base for the 45th consecutive game to open his NJCU career. He has hits in 44 of 45 career games... (03/10 vs. Coe College): 3-for-6 with three runs and one RBI, and launched a solo homerun in the bottom of the first inning to extend his two-year active school and New Jersey Athletic Conference record hitting streak to 36 consecutive games, also reached base for the 46th consecutive game to open his NJCU career. He now has hits in 45 of 46 career games... (03/13 vs. Penn State Altoona): 1-for-4 with a first inning double and run scored to extend his two-year active school and New Jersey Athletic Conference record hitting streak to 37 consecutive games... (03/15 vs. Staten Island): 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI in game one and continued in game two as he went 3-for-4 with one RBI and his sixth double for the season. He is now hitting .479 in 12 games this year (23-48), now has hits in 48 of 49 career games... (03/16 vs. Farmingdale State College): The only other NJCU player with a hit, singled with one out in the top of the first, to extend the streaks to 40 and 50, respectively in game one. Ended his hitting streaks in the nightcap, his final streak is the fifth longest recorded in Division III history as he went 0-for-3. He grounded out to short in the first inning, and reached on a fielder’s choice in the fourth and sixth innings. In his 51-game career, it was the first time he had failed to reach base with a hit, walk, or hit by pitch and only the second game he has not recorded at least one hit (Finlandia University, March 15, 2007). His 50-game on-base streak is the second longest known in Division III history... (03/19 vs. Baruch): Reached base for the 51st time in 52 career games, hitting safely for the 41st time in 42 games, as he collected two runs, two RBIs and went 1-for-5... (03/24 vs. College of Mount Saint Vincent): Combined 3-for-7 with three RBIs in the doubleheader. He has now reached base in 53 of 54 career games, and has hit safely in 43 of 44 contests. In game one he went 2-for-4 with the walk-off RBI, game two he added a 1-for-2 effort with two RBIs and two runs... (04/01 vs. John Jay College): Registered two runs scored and his 22nd RBI in 22 games... (04/03 vs. Manhattanville): Crossed the plate twice as he singled and scored on a two-out RBI double to left center in the bottom of the second to regain the lead 7-5... (04/04 at #3/10 Kean University): Registered 2-for-4 for the Knights, the lone player with multiple hits... (#4/8 at The College of New Jersey): Registered a hit in the doubleheader to bring his career total to 97 hits in only 63 career games... (04/14): earlier this season had a 40-game hitting streak and 50-game on-base streak, is featured in the April 14, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated. This season, Fulgencio extended the longest known active hitting streak in NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA baseball to 40 games and reached base in 50 consecutive games to open his NJCU career. Both streaks finally came to an end on March 16, 2008 in game two of a doubleheader at Farmingdale State College. The hitting streak began on March 25, 2007 at the College of Staten Island, while the on-base string commenced in his very first game as a Gothic Knight on March 10, 2007 versus Muskingum College (OH). He also had a hit in 49 of 50 games to open his career...(04/19 at Ramapo College): Went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI... (04/25 at Rutgers-Newark): Followed teammate Sumner with a two-run homer as part of his five-RBI effort. He finsihed the game 4-for-5 with five RBIs, two runs and his fourth homerun of the season and seventh over the last two years, while increasing his two-year RBI count to 77. The five RBIs were a career-high and marked his seventh career game of three or more ribbies...

2007 Highlights:  (03/27 vs. College of Mount Saint Vincent): 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and scored the game-winning run after being intentionally walked in the ninth...(03/29 at Suny-Farmingdale): Junior shortstop and the nephew of former New York Met Rafael Santana, had the best effort of his NJCU career, going a combined 4-for-5 with six runs, five stolen bases and two RBIs. He is 11-for-11 in steals this year. Fulgencio was 2-for-2 with four runs, three steals and one RBI...(03/31 vs. William Paterson University): Went 3-for-5 with six RBIs, three runs, two triples and a double as he notched his second game with five or more RBIs this season. He had a double in NJCU’s three-run first inning and added triples in both the second and third innings as the Knights scored five and four runs, respectively in the two frames to open a 12-0 lead.  He combined to go 4-for- 9 with eight RBIs, four runs, three extra base hits and two steals in the two games.... (04/02): Named New Jersey City University Male Athlete of the Week...(04/03 at John Jay College): 2-for-4 with a double to extend his hitting streak to nine... (04/05): National Collegeiate baseball Writers' Association Division IIi Honorable Mention Hitter of the Week. Fulgencio is batting .391 (27-69) in 19 games, starting all 19 contests. He is second on the club with 24 RBIs and 23 runs. Additionally, he has six doubles, three triples and two homeruns, and has been successful on 13 of 14 steals...(04/05 at Ramapo College): 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 10 straight...(04/06 vs. Montclair State University): Went 1-for-5 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 11 straight... (04/07 vs. The College of New Jersey): NJCU’s lone player with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games. He manufactured NJCU’s lone run in the eighth inning when he stole home—his 15th steal in 16 attempts this year... (04/09 vs. United States Merchant Marines Academy): Extended his hitting streak to 14 games finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs...(04/11 at Lehman College): Batted 4-for-4 with five RBIs, two doubles and one run to extend his hitting streak to 15 consecutive games. Fulgencio also stole his 16th base of the year, tied for the team lead with his 32nd RBI of the season... (4/16): Named New Jersey City University Male Athlete of the Week...(04/19 vs. Ramapo College): Extended his hitting streak to 19 consecutive games. He 3-for-4 with two RBIs—his 38th of the season, and just 10 shy of the nearly 20-year-old single-season record of 48. He also added two steals, and is 19-of-21 this year in steal opportunities. He was NJCU’s only player with multiple hits as the Knights collected seven overall... (04/20 at Kean University): Extended his hitting streak to 20 consecutive games as he hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs, one run, and his third homerun of the season, increased his conference-leading RBI total to 40—eight shy of the nearly 20-year-old single-season record of 48... (04/21 at Rutgers University-Camden): Moved within one game of tying the school record by extending his hitting streak to 22 consecutive games.  He registered three extra bases hits in two games and had two hits in each contest, now has the second longest streak in NJCU history and could tie the record of 23 games. 2-for-4 In game two he finished with one RBI and one run, including two triples. He now has seven three-baggers—one shy of equaling the single-season record ...(4/23): Named New Jersey City University Male Athlete of the Week...(04/24 vs. Baruch College): Tied the school record by extending his hitting streak to 23 consecutive games finished 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, hit safely in his 23rd consecutive game, tying the hitting streak record set by Don Nelson in 2001. With two RBIs, he now has 43—five shy of tying Rich Levens’ 1988 single-season record of 48... (04/26 vs. Montclair State University): Broke the school record by extending his hitting streak to 24 consecutive games. Entered the day tied with Don Nelson at 23 games for the longest hitting streak in school history. Ironically, Nelson’s streak in 2001 was snapped by MSU. However, Fulgencio went 2-for-4 in defeat, with his 56th hit of the season to establish his place in Gothic Knight history... (04/26): For the second time in eight weeks has been selected as a National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Division III Honorable Mention Nation Hitter of the Week.  He is the first player in NJCU history to receive mention from the NCBWA twice in the same season.  In the last four games he hit .529 (9-17) with five RBIs, and four runs. He had four extra base hits—his NJAC-leading 13th double, two triples and one homerun. He also had a .955 fielding percentage at shortstop, a 1.000 slugging percentage and .529 on-base rate.  He is now 1/100th of a point off of the league’s batting average lead. In addition to RBIs and doubles, he leads the NJAC in hits, total bases (86), and slugging percentage. He ranks tied for second in triples (5),  third in steals, fifth in steal attempts, 10th in runs, tied for 10th in homeruns (3), 12th in on-base percentage (.467), and 17th in at bats. He is also second in two-out RBIs (19)—a sign of his clutch hitting skills...  (4/30): Named New Jersey City University Male Athlete of the Week... (4/30 vs. Kean University): Extended the longest hitting streak in Division III this season to 27 consecutive games.  He finished the game 1-for-4 with one run, hit safely in 36 of his 37 games this year, and reached base by hit or walk in all 37 contests. He finished the year with 59 hits. Also featured News 12 New Jersey as a baseball standout ... (05/07):  Named Honorable Mention All-NJAC at shortstop, in voting by the league’s 10 head coaches.  He led the Knights in batting, hits, RBIs, doubles, triples and total bases, and was second in runs, steals and homers. In the NJAC statistical rankings for league games through April 29, he was the conference leader in hits and triples, and tied for the league lead in total bases with TCNJ’s Gerard Haran, the two-time NJAC Player of the Year. He also ranked second in batting average and slugging percentage, third in RBIs, fourth in doubles and assists, tied for fifth in at bats, sixth in steal attempts, tied for sixth in fielding double plays (13), and tied for ninth in steals. His eight two-out RBIs were tied for third in the league.... ( 05/17): Voted New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Division II/III Second-Team All-State...
