Biography

For starters: A two-year starting outfielder for the Gothic Knights…A career .298 hitter (53-178) in 57 games (52 starts)…Has scored 41 runs with 25 RBIs, while collecting seven doubles and five triples…Has walked 24 times with 34 strikeouts…Has been successful on 11-of-14 stolen base tries.

2006: Batted .276 (24-87) in 28 games (25 starts)…Ranked third among starters in average and seven in runs scored (16)…Finished with two doubles, three triples and five RBIs…Walked nine times with one hit by pitch…Went 7-of-9 on stolen bases…Struck out 17 times…Had a .925 fielding percentage with four errors in 53 chances…Had 46 putouts and three outfield assists…Hit .316 with two outs (6-19) and .308 (8-26) with runners in scoring position…Had a 42.6 success rate in advancing runners (20-47)…Tallied five multiple hit games…Batted in the No. 8 slot in 15 games, also seeing time in the four, five, six and seven order…Played 23 games in right field.

High School: A June 2004 graduate of Bayonne High School where he was a four-year, two-sport athlete in baseball and soccer…Played four years of baseball, including three on the varsity level for Coach Phil Baccarella…Was named MVP of the Bayonne freshman baseball team in 2001…Was a member of the 2002 Bees’ club which won the North I, Group IV baseball state sectional championship…Bayonne began the season 18-0, and finished 25-4 on the season, finally losing to Union in the NJSIAA Group 4 semifinals on June 4, 2002… Also played four seasons of varsity soccer for coach Connie Gallagher and Billy Petty...A two-time All-County selection in soccer for Bayonne, earning Second-Team honors…Was tabbed Bayonne’s “Best Defensive Player” in soccer in 2002 and 2003.

2008 Highlights: (03/06 vs. Muhlenberg College at Russ Matt College Spring Break Invitational): Drove in the go-ahead run with a single to take the lead for good in the sixth... (03/12 vs. Coe College): Blasted a 425-foot two-run homerun in the sixth inning, overall he finished the game 2 for 3 with two RBIs... (03/16 vs. Farmingdale State College): Registered an RBI groundout in game one... (03/24 vs. College of Mount Saint Vincent):  2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run... (03/27 vs. Rutgers-Newark): Scored twice and now has 95 career hits...(#4/8 at The College of New Jersey): went 1-for-2 with a sixth-inning single to become the 27th member of the 100-hit club. A four-year starter for NJCU, now has exactly 100 career hits, with 29 in 2005, 24 in 2006, 31 in 2007 and 16 so far this season. It is the sixth consecutive year that a player has reached the 100-hit plateau and Mackow is the ninth player to accomplish that feat during the span... (04/17 vs. Montclair State): Scored twice... (04/19 at Ramapo College): 2-for-5 with two RBIs and one run... (04/26 vs. Rutgers-Camden University): Provided the eventual winning run with a second inning RBI single before NJCU spread the lead to 7-0 with four runs in the third...

2007 Highlights: (03/12 vs. University of Scranton at Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic): Went 1-for-3 with two runs and two walks... (03/12): Named New Jersey City University Male Athlete of the Week...(03/16): Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Week 3 of the 2007 season and the first New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Division II/III Player of the Week of the year.  Additionally, Mackow was selected as a National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association (NCBWA) Division III Honorable Mention National Hitter of the Week. Gotham Baseball Magazine tabbed him to its Player of the Week Honor Roll. In the first four games of the 2007 season for NJCU, Mackow batted .692, hitting 9-of-13 in three games. He scored five runs, while knocking in three RBIs. He also notched two doubles and one steal as NJCU went 1-2 with him in the lineup. He is the first NJCU player named NJAC Player of the Week since Jonathan Thomas in week three of the 2004 season. He is the fifth NJCU player named NJCBA Player of the Week. Mackow is also the third athlete honored by the NCBWA as either National Hitter or Honorable Mention Hitter of the Week, all coming since 2004...
