William M. Lehman begins his second season as an assistant baseball coach on the staff of Eric Alvarez for the 2009 season. He also serves as an assistant recruiting coordinator and assistant bench coach.
 
Prior to coaching at NJCU, Lehman was an assistant coach at Middlesex County College in Edison, NJ. In 2004, he also was a successful AAU coach, who led the nationally-ranked Strike Zone Baseball National Team to a 33-2 record, the state championship, and the Elite 8 of the national championship.
 
Lehman was an outstanding high school athlete at Edison High School, before being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the ninth round in 1973, after earning All-American and All-State honors as a prep athlete. A 1973 graduate of Edison, he was a three-year varsity baseball player for Coach Ken Carkhuff, helping the Eagles win a conference championship. He was also a three-year varsity soccer player for Coach Ed Primica.
 
When not coaching, Lehman is a general manager for Tire Barn, Inc., where he has worked for 22 years. He also enjoys fishing, thin crust pizza and listening to Paul McCartney, and lists Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver as his idol.
 
Born December 24, 1954, Lehman resides in Edison, NJ. He has a 23-year-old son, Billy, Jr., and is related to current NJCU sophomore Tom Burke.
