Joe Yeck was introduced as the fourth head coach in the history of the New Jersey City University men's golf program in April 2018 and, with the addition of varsity women's golf prior in July 2019, took over that program, as well. Women's golf officially began competition in the Fall of 2020.
2021-22: This was a banner year for the Gothic Knights as, competing in their first-ever Atlantic East Conference men's golf championship, the NJCU men placed fourth overall, led by Second Team All-Atlantic East honoree then-freshman Evan Stoker. The team went 3-0 in dual matches, including a huge victory over AEC rival Marywood University, 313-319. Stoker was a five-time weekly honoree by the Atlantic East under Yeck's guidance as the burgeoning continues to take steps. The women's golf team also saw massive success by placing third in the squad's first-ever Atlantic East Championship. Then-freshman Destiny Duhaney routinely led the Gothic Knights as their top finisher.
2020-21: After the cancelation of the 2020 Spring campaign, Yeck and the Gothic Knights were eager to get back out on the course on the men's side, as well as make their varsity debut as a women's golf program. Both squads put together strong seasons under Yeck and headed into 2021-22 with high expectations.
2019-20: Competing in just the Fall season in 2019, Yeck's squad put together some strong performances and hosted the first-ever New Jersey Collegiate Cup at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield. The tournament is now regularly hosted by a New Jersey-area program on an annual basis.
2018-19: After taking over the program following the 2018 Spring campaign, Yeck's first season as the head coach was strong as he saw a number of student-athletes shoot low rounds all season long. After a seventh-place finish at the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship, Yeck's squad earned a quartet Academic All-CAC honors.
Before NJCU: Yeck came to NJCU after serving as the assistant men's and women's golf coach at nearby Drew University and McDaniel College prior to his time with the Rangers. Yeck was a member of Drew's first-ever golf coaching staff since its inception in September 2016. After a year as a club program in 2016-17, both programs were elevated to varsity status in Fall 2017. Yeck helped build both programs and recruit its first student-athletes, oversaw team practices and instruction and helped organize the Blue & Green Athletic Department Golf Tournament.
At Drew, Yeck also served in an admissions role, first as an admissions counselor and athletics liaison from August 2012 through June 2015 before being promoted to assistant director in July 2015. There he represented the University on and off campus to prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, alumni and other organizations, with particular focus on the Mid Atlantic U.S.. The school saw a dramatic increase in deposits from Bergen County, Philadelphia and Maryland in 2016 and 2017. He represented Drew’s admissions office as a member of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counseling (PACAC) and the Potomac Chesapeake Association for College Admissions Counseling (PCACAC) from 2014-16.

At McDaniel, he assisted in practice and oversaw golf tournaments, recruitment, scheduling, fundraising and monitoring academic performance of student-athletes.
Yeck’s introduction to collegiate golf coaching came as a counselor at the Nike Golf Camp at Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.) in June 2009 and June 2011. At McDaniel, he also served as a graduate assistant men’s basketball coach from August 2008 through May 2010. The Green Terror won a school-record 18 games (18-8) in 2008-09 (equaled in 2013-14).
Outside of coaching, Yeck was Director of Sales/Marketing at MGM Sports, Inc. in Westminster from May 2010 to August 2012. He was assistant coordinator of intramurals and fitness at McDaniel from January 2011 to June 2012, coordinating intramurals and special events including week-long leagues and one-day tournaments. He also marketed activities for campus recreation programs and assisted in wellness programs for staff members. He had a stint as a campus recreation assistant director intern at Gettysburg College from August 2007 to August 2008.
