Rob Cleary '21 returns to the Gothic Knights men's wrestling program for the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant coach. Cleary will assist head coach Harry Turner and the rest of the coaching staff with various duties including practice, training, recruiting and more.
Cleary wrestled in 2020-21 for New Jersey City University at 149 pounds and compiled an overall record of 5-2 in the abbreviated campaign. He advanced all the way to the consolation second round of eight at the 2020-21 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Championships. Three of his five wins came by a result other than decision, including one fall and one technical fall.
Prior to joining the Green & Gold, cleary competed for a pair of Division I programs in Rider University and Rutgers University. In 2019-20, he compiled a 7-4 record for the Broncs, including a fourth-place finish at the Keystone Classic. With the Scarlet Knights, he compiled an overall record of 26-10 over parts of two seasons including a pair of runner-up finishes as a redshirt freshman at the Lock Haven Mat-Town Open and the East Stroudsburg Warrior Open.
A native of Edison, N.J., Cleary is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at NJCU.
